Cherokee Scout Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire that claimed a life off Lance Road on Monday evening. Information about the fire victim was not immediately available. The house, located at 169 Lance Road in the Bellview area, belongs to Johnny Roberson, according to Cherokee County tax records.

Anngee Quinones-Belian/Staff Correspondent A work truck is parked outside Ranger Elementary School on Monday morning. The school was closed “due to a facility issue that requires immediate action,” according to a release from Cherokee County Schools. Mold is suspected.

Body Andrews – Veterans of Foreign Wars 7620 held its sixth annual Hot Summer Nights Car Show & Fundraiser on Saturday along Main Street downtown.

Body Firefighters from across Cherokee County will be holding boot drives Saturday to help Alan Andrews, chief of the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, during difficult medical times.
