Wildcats off to 5-0 start

Body The Wildcats have dispatched each of their first five opponents by at least 18 points, including a 64-39 win against Hiwassee Dam on Dec. 6 as well as a 66-35 win and 85-32 win against Highlands and Nantahala on Dec. 8 and 9.

3 county teams have All-Conference soccer selections

Dogs’ boys split two

Body Murphy – Bulldogs boys basketball was on the opposite side of two blowouts to start the season, falling at Gilmer County, Ga., 91-62 before thrashing Highlands 71-29.

Cats sweep conference football awards

Body After having its best season in decades, Andrews football won all three of the Smoky Mountain Conference’s major awards: Senior Isaac Weaver was named Back of the Year, senior Drew Martin was named Lineman of the Year and head coach James Phillips was named Coach of the Year.
