Eagles grow at Swain tournament

Body The Eagles have four capable scorers, but sometimes struggle to find the balance between playing as a group and playing as individuals. On defense, they lack strength down low and struggle rebounding at times. Still, when things are clicking, Hiwassee Dam is generally competitive.

Body Several times, it looked Hiwassee Dam was about to go on a run, only for Hayesville to get a quick bucket or two. The Lady Eagles led 24-18 at halftime, then 30-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Wildcats can’t get going in a loss to Robbinsville

Body The Wildcats were coming off a 70-60 loss to Cherokee loss on Dec. 16, and fell short 52-43 in a Dec. 20 home game against Robbinsville. The two losses came after a 6-0 start to the season.

Body Andrews senior Isaac Weaver and Murphy junior Hunter Stalcup were both selected to the 2022 N.C. Sports Writers All-State Team, which was voted on by 10 writers who cover high school sports across the state.
