Another view of Trump’s fate

Trump should be immediately imprisoned.

Hat’s off to veterans section

Many thanks for the “Celebrating Our Veterans” magazine insert and to all who sponsored it.

What a beautiful tribute to our veterans. We all need to read their stories and be reminded of the sacrifices they have made on our behalf.

Event was a lovely honor

I am Cherokee County’s only native to be honored with the state’s highest honor, the North Carolina Award, which was presented for Fine Arts in 2007.

I am always invited for the current year’s awards, so last week Nanette and I attended. All proceeds from the event went to Western North Carolina relief efforts. The event had other distinctly Western N.C. highlights.

As he presented the awards, Gov. Roy Cooper spoke at a hand-crafted podium commissioned from Brasstown’s Lindsey Liden of Mulheron Banjos.

The Avett Brothers, whose Broadway show “Swept Away” will open soon, received the North Carolina Award for Fine Arts. The Avetts are known internationally for innovative music that draws from North Carolina inspirations such as Hillbilly Ranger columnist, former editor of the Cherokee Scout and Rock ‘n’ Roll Gospel piano player “Uncle Wally Avett.”

It was a lovely occasion and opportunity to say thanks to Gov. Cooper for integrity, wisdom and courage in the service of North Carolina.
