Thankful for contributions

On behalf of the John C. Campbell Folk School family, thank you for your generous donation of newspapers, newsprint and rolls to our blacksmith shop. We’re so grateful for your support.

Our school was built by many who offered their time, labor, belief, talent and creativity in support of an idea. Nearly 100 years later, those same contributions from donors like you

help our students, instructors and staff flourish.

As our programs and opportunities continue to grow, we remain grateful for the ongoing and vital gifts that make it all possible.

A biblical response

Rebuttal: Tamara Phillips/Genesis 12:2-3.

Galatians 3:14: “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises
made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ.” 28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Galatians 3:7-9: “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the
scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.” Romans 2:28, ‘For he is NOT a Jew who is one outwardly ... But he is a Jew who is one inwardly ...’ ”

1 Peter 2:9: “But ye are a chosen  generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people ...”

Genesis 17:8: “And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

Genesis 13:15: “For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.” The 12 tribes never had an “everlasting possession” of Israel. They didn’t possess Israel for 1,878 years. (70 AD-1948) Therefore, “to thy seed forever” can’t be referring to the 12 tribes, but to Christians. (1 John 2:22-23, Philippians 3:3, 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16, Matthew 21:40-44).
