Injured dog needs help
The dog of a local disabled veteran was taken outside in the early morning as usual, but this time the dog decided to chase after a moving truck. The dog’s head smashed into the truck’s tire, resulting in a severely broken jaw as well as leg wounds. The dog needed immediate emergency care.
Unable to properly treat the dog, a local animal hospital recommended that the dog be seen by a specialist at North Georgia Veterinary Specialists in Buford, Ga. The dog’s owner drove the dog to Buford, where it received emergency treatment, but the dog will also need continued follow-up care.
Animal Rescue Financial Support needs your help to pay the estimated $5,000 medical expenses for this dog. Please send a donation to ARFS, PO Box 972, Hiawassee, GA 30546, and mark your donation for “Dog – broken jaw.”
All donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Animal Rescue Financial Support serves Cherokee, Clay, Towns and Union counties.

FSCA thanks area partners
Four Square Community Action and our Board of Directors sincerely appreciates our community, and we are thankful for our hard-working staff and the many generous donations of volunteer hours, auction items and money contributed to the success of our dinner and auction on Nov. 11. Many families will receive help from your generosity.
Particularly, we thank Andrews United Methodist Church for the use of your facility and the ongoing support you provide. The facilities were ideal and supplied a clean and well-lighted space for dinner, acoustic music and all aspects of the auction.
Also, we thank Ronnie Coffey for serving as our auctioneer. Your smile and fast-paced handling of the auction contributed to our success.
The assistance from the Clonts family U-Haul truck and storage was a vital support. The food donations from Julie’s Place, Frankie’s Doghouse, Mariolino’s, Sharp’s Chapel bakers and private individuals were the perfect accompaniment to the success of the event.
Finally, to the courteous and hard-working group of young athletes who helped remove tables and load trucks at the end of the event, we say a hearty, “Thank you!”
Every week, Four Square continues to serve children, the elderly, disabled and many low-income families that struggle economically. Examples of our services include heating assistance and home repairs, car repairs that help families get to and from work and transport their children to needed medical appointments, and food delivery services to those that lack the ability to afford needed food items.
Without the commitment of our entire community, our efforts could not be successful. Thank you.
If you are interested in helping your community, please reach out to Four Square. View our website at foursquarecommunityactioninc.com or call 828-321-4475. We can always use volunteers as drivers, office help, construction support and many other ways.

All about the Middle East
There are several questions I have regarding the pontifications written so far. How many of these people have lived and worked in the Middle East – not on vacations? Before you ask me, it’s 14 years?
How many can say that the Palestinians are terrorists with positive proof of such statements and not propaganda?
Hamas is a terrorist group verified worldwide in the uncensored press. Qualities such as placidity and dullness concerning obscene matters is no way to address this very serious matter.
We now know that Hamas was not the only terror group involved on Oct. 7. Islamic Jihad and warlords are holding hostages. The question is what are these other groups going to ask for the release of their captives? On Nov. 2, 1917, the Balfour Declaration is signed. The declaration called for safeguarding the civil and religious rights for all Palestinians Arabs, who composed the vast majority of the local population and also the rights and political status of the Jewish communities in other countries outside of Palestine.
The concept of “Palestine” did exist before the State of Israel was created 31 years before, according to Balfour. We have maps with titles like, “Palestine at the time of Christ.”
So at what time did the Jews lose control of the “Promised Land,” and why?

A rebuttal to other letters
My rebuttal to other letters. To David Bellino, bravo! I implore readers to investigate the validity of all of my statements.
Harry Holdorf suggested 2.4 million Palestinians “turn the other cheek,” give up Gaza and move to the already crowded West Bank, where there are 700,000 illegal Israeli squatters, who carry rifles. Would you be OK with giving up your house and living in a tent? How would you feel if your children, parents or siblings were murdered by the IDF? Or if you lived in an open-air concentration camp?
How would you feel if your homeland was in ruins, you had no job, home, belongings, food or water? Would you just “turn the other cheek?” Easily spoken, as you sit in a comfortable home surrounded by family.
Shirley Frisbee claims the Israelis have been in Palestine for centuries. The “biblical” nation of Israel was scattered by God more than 1,800 years ago and no longer exists.
This scattering by God is called the Diaspora. The Northern 10 tribes of Israel were controlled by evil kings. Because of their idolatry and child sacrifice God had the Assyrians enslave them.
They intermarried with the heathens and were eventually lost tribes. In 70 AD, after Titus’ Roman army destroyed the temple, God scattered the southern two tribes.
God destroyed the temple and scattered them for a reason. They rejected their Messiah and nailed Him naked to a cross. They rejected Christ, and so God rejected them. Shirley, you need to watch the documentary, The Stones Cry Out, to get in touch with reality.
And lastly to Tamara Phillips, who stated that we’re to support and pray for Israel. Please cite the scriptural evidence for your assertion. I’ve read the entire Bible and haven’t read one word about Christians supporting or praying for Israel.

An unholy genocide?
The cognitive dissonance modern religious conservatives feel must be astounding.
Often, I’ve seen local residents share posts on Facebook about the Jewish-controlled media, often accompanied by racist depictions of rabbis puppeteering the world. In recent months, these same folks have started to share posts in overwhelming support of Israel and their holy crusade to slaughter as many innocent people as possible.
While speaking to a longtime friend last week, I wondered how these viewpoints could be aligned. The points brought up in the conversation led to two conclusions:
Firstly, that their disdain for the Jews is overridden by vague and poor-fitting biblical prophecy concerning the nation of Israel, and therefore their selfish hatred is put aside so that their ticket to the pearly gates isn’t lost.
Additionally, it simply seems their animosity toward Arabic people surpasses any ill-feeling toward Jewish people.
Religious texts have no place in modern politics. It’s disheartening to witness religion being exploited to further agendas. It is a phenomenon that has been prevalent in this nation from the beginning, but is genocide not where we draw the line?
The humanitarian crisis in Palestine is deeply troubling. The imagery of children rummaging through rubble hoping to find their family and the desperate medical conditions highlight a severe situation.
Recognizing and addressing the severity of these actions in Israel is crucial. The right to religious freedom is vital, but it must be practiced appropriately, without encroaching upon political and social discourse.
In short – it’s not too late to see that Israel is committing an unholy genocide.
