Advantage ICE vs. EV

Global warming! Really? The hottest summer ever?

According to climate.gov, 92 million years ago, the average global temperature was 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit. 55-56 million years ago it was 73 degrees. Today, it is 60 degrees.

Modern human civilization with permanent agriculture and settlements only developed over the last 10,000 years or so. A period of relatively low temperatures and climate stability. So, probably not those dreaded internal combustion engines causing the problem. Nor the propane stoves, heaters, coal fired utilities, cows or 8 billion humans passing gas. Maybe it is just one of Earth’s many cycles. Maybe it is our sun’s expansion.

Did you know that the average electric vehicle battery weighs 1,000 pounds and lasts 100,000-200,000 miles (8-15 years)? Remember, less than 5 percent of those are recycled and only for a small part of their component metals. So, 1 million EVs equals 1 billion pounds of batteries and highly noxious chemicals in your local landfill or oceans. This is in addition to the other millions of pounds of garbage/sewer treatment plant solids dumped, something environmentalists never talk about.

EVs weigh 15-20 percent more than ICE vehicles due to battery weight. More highway fatalities to come. The Baseline Fatality Probability increases 47 percent per 1,000-pound increase in vehicle weight, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Why is it environmental warriors only want to talk about pollution in the United States and not China, India and South Korea, the largest polluters on Earth? Maybe it is because of the $40-plus billion of federal government funding that is pushing false climate science. It is hard to say there is no climate emergency when one is being paid to say there is.

Al Gore said the polar regions would be ice free by 2013? James Lovelock, the guru of global warming hysteria, admits he was an alarmist.

What’s on the stove at park?

I believe, like Victoria Ivie, that Konehete Veterans Park can undergo new attractions, but she failed to explain what kind.

Certainly, as a veteran, I would like something for us. If she would let us know what she proposes I, for one, will be willing to donate. Not knowing what our donations will bring doesn’t make sense.

I’m sure she’s on the right track in her own mind, but I’m not giving a penny till I know what’s cooking.
