No imposter Santas here?

A recent Quick Reads item described the upcoming “Small Town, Bright Lights” Christmas Parade in Andrews. One listed restriction was, “No Santa Claus imposters will be allowed in the parade.” What is the back story here?

Is this religious thing? Did too many Santas show up one year and a Santa brawl broke out? Can the real Santa be in the parade?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Voting red from Bible

I’m voting red because of biblical issues. I’m not voting for the ones who believe and do everything God is against. Better think about that.

We all will stand before God and give an account for things in our lives, and this will be one of them. If you vote for people that upholds abortion, among many other things, you will stand before God just like they do. It is time Christians take a stand against all this sin.

I know both sides have their faults, but you still  have to vote for the party that has the best biblical views. God hates sin, so don’t be a part of it. “Vote red.”

I can’t tell you what God has planned for this country, but I do know He is not pleased the way it is going now. If you vote blue, you are voting for one-world government, cashless society, higher gas, higher groceries and losing your freedom.

We are not promised tomorrow, so make sure you are saved and looking for Jesus. That is what matters.

It is not pleasing to God to vote for all this ungodly things that the blue stands for. Blue is not gonna take care of all this worldly needs.

Red can only do so much, but red is our best choice. God has always took care of us, and He always will if we put our faith in what Jesus done on the cross. Look beyond red and blue, and accept Jesus as your Saviour.

Please vote red.

Be a hero to dog in need

October means pumpkin spice lattes, fall temperatures and leaves turning color, but it’s also a chance to be a hero to a dog in need.

For thousands of years, dogs have been our best friends, our protectors and often our personal heroes, improving and even saving lives. That is why each October for more than 40 years, American Humane has encouraged animal lovers to repay the favor by adopting a dog from a local shelter or rescue group during its annual Adopt-a-Dog Month.

While adopting a puppy or younger dog is great, we do hope you will also consider adopting a senior dog. The sad truth of the matter is that senior animals spend the longest time at shelters and rescues, and tragically, animals past the age of six or seven are often deemed unadoptable solely because of their age. Both dogs and cats of advanced age have higher euthanasia rates than their younger counterparts since they struggle to find homes.

There are many reasons a senior animal can end up at a shelter, but most are affectionate, wonderful companions who have just faced unfortunate circumstances. There are numerous benefits to a senior dog as well: they tend to be less rambunctious than younger dogs; they’re often already house-trained; they’re a great fit for people

with busy lifestyles; they’re so grateful for a second chance and will give you lots of love and thanks!

Older animals still have so much to offer, so this Adopt-a-Dog Month, I encourage everyone who is looking to add a new furry companion to their family to stop and say hello to some of the older dogs at the shelter. Open your heart and your home, and you may just find your new best friend.

Our God-given voting rights

Folks, it’s crunch time in the good-ol’ U.S.A. come this November election, which can turn the tide and start a new chapter for us who love our nation, with all of its faults.

Let’s get out of our comfortable surroundings of our beloved homes, and go vote for the

right people that have the same values and principles that made our nation great under the leadership of the Almighty God, creator of all things seen and not seen.

We have stood by and let evil come rushing in like a hurricane destroying everything that is precious to us. Our freedoms, our liberties and our God-given rights are slowly being washed away, and somehow we think it will get better.

Well, how’s that working out for us?

Too long our nation has been on a roller coaster ride without any godly leadership to steer our nation in the right direction.

When evil comes in it has only one purpose – to kill and destroy the very fabric of our society. It aims at the jugular of our beloved nation and never lets go until complete control is in its grasp.

The destiny of America lies squarely on the shoulders of those who love our nation. It is our duty as citizens of America to stand in the gap, not to run the other way, but run toward the voting polls in November and let our voice be heard.

Millions of our armed forces have died so that we could live in the land of the brave and free. Don’t ever settle for second best, but go boldly with courage and conviction of what we need to do to turn our beloved nation back into what God intended for it to be.

It’s your America. Is she worth your vote? I pray so.

About checks and balances

Isn’t it convenient for the Democrats to hold yet another Jan. 6 hearing just before the mid-term elections and raiding past president Donald Trump’s home by the FBI in about the same time frame? The Dems are desperate. They do not want to lose their power.

I think President Joe Biden knows he is a one-term president and will try to implement, in the next two years, as many “government knows best” policies as possible. He has a head start with practically everything we need day to day. He’s got a much higher price tag than before he was elected.

Taxes. Everyone is gonna pay, not just the millionaires. The national debt is more than $30 trillion.

Oil. The oil reserve is half full. It’s dangerous and the cost to refill will be on the shoulders of the taxpayers. Biden is having to beg other countries for oil and you know the price will be exorbitant.

U.S./Mexican border. Biden hasn’t been there, and it’s evident he doesn’t intend to go. Another tax burden, with over 2 million plus already here.

Free college education. A good thing if the country is hitting on all cylinders, but to add that to the astronomical debt now is ridiculous. Another tax we all must share.

Hopefully, a new Congress will bring about checks and balances. It’s our duty to vote. Vote your conscious. God bless America – again!

Education’s too costly

As I read the article about this $50 million school, I became upset on how much “they” will pay Paul Boney for his architect work.

I have been called crazy, sarcastic and selfish, and I am proud of it cause I can prove through my own experience I can lower the cost of this school by $20 million at least, and I challenge the board of education and county commissioners to do so if this school is a must.

Like Steve Jordan said, “You don’t have to have a degree to have common sense.” Did Frank Lloyd Wright use a computer when he built a whole city?

I can draw up plans for this new school, which seems out for money for sports instead of a true education. Ask yourself this: If we have problems keeping children in school now, how is this new $50 million school going to change that?

Acts 2:38 key to all mankind

God created the heaven, the earth, Adam and took one of his ribs, made a woman (Eve). However, God saw that the earth is filled with violence through them, and said I will destroy whom I have created from the face of the Earth; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

However, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, God said unto Noah, make thee an ark, for your wife and three sons, and their wives; and of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. After the flood, Noah and they that were with him in the ark remained alive.

Again, the whole world was of one language and of one speech; and they said, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven, but the Lord came down and confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech and scattered them abroad upon the face of all the Earth.

When Jesus was come into Jerusalem and Jesus went into the temple of God and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple of God and began to said unto them, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but, ye have made it a den of thieves. The chief priests, scribes and Roman system heard about it; and the chief priests answered. We have no king but Caesar; and they crucified Jesus. Christ rise from the dead the third day.

Today, we have many Bibles, more than 1,200 different faiths and 3,000 different language and dialects, who have dented or destroyed the truth of the word of God and common sense.
