‘Gemini rising’

In February’s cold, clear, night sky;

We observe an eminent sight, astronomical Gemini.

In this crisp winter’s darkness, ever so high.

Castor and Pollux anchors this formation of the Zodiac.

Destined to be patrons of horsemen, hunters and sailors.

Toiling alongside fellow Argonauts.

Coinciding with the zenith of stellar Gemini,

There occurred an inspiriting of twins of mortal birth.

Kessler and Connor, this brace of boys;

To become the second ascension of Gemini.

To stand alongside the brightest stars in this astral formation.

Their visage to dazzle and uplift our hopes.

A terrestrial sight, as day relieves night,

The spring fog slowly lifts from pastoral grasses.

This hazy bank spawns droplets of dew on their verdant tips.

This sustaining moisture slowly rolls down the meadows stems towards earth.

These cool drops fall and replicate the path; of he bitter tears of my loss, that descend from mine

eyes.

This ethereal mist ascends ... as I must; towards the heavens.

To Gemini, where I know my Bright Stars are waiting for me to join them.

I long to grasp those tiny index fingers of my offspring,

Hoping for that little spark as one finds in a fresco ceiling.

Oriented by Michelangelo in the Cappella Magna.

As I enclose the diminutive digit of these youngster’s hands;

I am eager to guide them towards the sun.

An assistance in their ascension to their rightful place in heaven.

A golden illuminated cloud, full of warmth and incandescence.

A Robert Frost echo, “Miles to go before I sleep” refrains in my thoughts.

Reflections of these Sons and “promises to keep” pervade my conscience daily.

As certain as the sun and the moon alternate in the heavens;

This place above, I long to join them upon my passing.

This a tribute to the twin boys of registered nurse Clay Springer, who I used to work with at Erlanger Hospital in Peachtree.
