Election isn’t rocket science

As a native of Graham County residing in Andrews, I am related to a lot of you. My roots run deep and so does my love for family and friends.

I recall the good old days, when we appreciated and defended each other, no matter the politics or what faith we confessed.

At the ripe old age of 88, I feel I have grown in faith and wisdom, and although my eyes are growing dim, I see many things more clearly now than when I was young. Unfortunately, I discern a loss of love among our kin and neighbors, so I must ask during this time of trial and tribulation: should we publicly write and say things that divide and create confusion, using politics as a weapon?

When I was a student at Indiana University, working on my doctorate in optometric medicine, I was instructed to use both objective and subjective analysis – along with deductive reasoning – to correctly reach a diagnosis or conclusion. Obviously, this also applies to the more mundane things in life.

You may say, “I respect your right to have a choice in the matter,” but do you really? Especially after using corrupted logic derived from the political and lying propaganda that floods the airwaves. I proffer, as ordinary human beings, that we too often choose those sources of information that best reflects our own characters.

But remember, the heart is deceitful above all things and cannot be trusted. The only source for truth is the Holy Bible and for the Holy Spirit to lead us unto all truth; and Jesus says you may know the truth and it shall set you free.

In the upcoming election – and for the rest of your life – be a lover of the truth and not lies; for your eternal destiny depends on that.

‘Hats off’ to O’Brien, IOI

The 50th anniversary celebration of Industrial Opportunities Inc. held on Oct. 4 in Andrews was a momentous occasion.

Working there in the early years made me the person I am today. To learn to start a program to help people who had no help before was a formative part of my career. Not many programs maintain the high ideals they began with after 50 years. Not many start up businesses that last for 50 years. IOI has met the mark for both.

Hats off to Tom O’Brien for leading the way, and congratulations to all the clientele over the years, who gave their all.

Harris isn’t fighting for us

Kamala Harris had three and-a-half-years to fight for us. She didn’t.

National Review editor-in-chief Rich Lowry wrote, “Harris is hostile to those most American ideals of color-blindness and equality of opportunity, favoring instead the poisonous concept of ‘equity’ that means achieving equal outcomes.”

Regarding the border crisis, “there’s no doubt that she had been opposed to enforcement and supportive of sundry benefits for illegal aliens while advocating mass amnesty.”

She lied about the Senate’s recent border bill, stating, “It would have locked down the border and thrown away the key. Donald Trump tanked it. He picked up the phone and called some friends in

Congress and said stop the bill because, you see, he prefers to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem.”

Trump and many others opposed it. “Pretty much every border hawk blasted the bill as a travesty on the merits, as well as a handful of Senate Democrats. The bill’s basic flaw would have done nothing to reverse, while further securing, the lawless Biden-Harris policy of waving migrants into the United States,” Lowry explained.

Under the bill, Harris extols hiring more Border Patrol agents, but more manpower or resources easily could have been passed on their own, without the baggage of the rest of the bill, Lowry clarified.

In a Combat Veterans for Congress Political Action Committee editorial, Major Gen. Geoffrey Higginbotham, U.S. Marines (Retired), states, “Kamala is a very serious national security threat to the very survival of the U.S. constitutional republic; she has been a fellow traveler of Marxists, Communists, Maoists, Socialists, progressives and the Chinese Communists for over 35 years.”

Con-mala will destroy America. Trump, like him or not, means our success. He will again defend our Constitution, Bill of Rights and fundamental freedoms, drastically improve the economy, seal our borders, jail violent offenders and make America powerfully self-sufficient.

Christ has fulfilled law

Romans 3:9-20: “What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise: For we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; (verse 10); As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: (verse 11); there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. (verse 20); therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

The purpose of the law (Bible) was to bring conviction and prove guilt, not for justification. The law never justified anyone; its purpose is to reveal sin.

Those of us who have benefited from this expression of God’s love ought also to love one another. Man can exceed his own standards, but never, left to himself, can he attain to God’s standard of righteousness.

If not checked, sin and lying lips brings hideous results, affecting not only our relationship with God, but also our relationship with others. Whether Jew (Christian) or Gentile (sinner); “Beware” the world, United Nations and the United States is full of enemies who want to destroy the love for our country, community, children and God. This people honoreth God with their lips, but their heart is far from him.

Lying is to be replaced by truth-telling, and let every person speak truth with his neighbor, because Christ means to learn Christian teaching. We all rejected him at one time, but Christ should come to fulfill it.
