Power lacks compassion

From Teresa Davis Gibby of Murphy

I want to know why Murphy Power Board shut my power off for $65 when for the past five years I paid my bill every month.

They called me while I was at work. I was fixing to get in shower when bam lights went out. They didn’t give me a chance to pay it.     This month’s bill isn’t even due until the 15th, so why not wait to see if I will pay the next?

I have been a loyal customer who pays my bill for the past five years. Customer service said the call was a courtesy call. Courtesy? She didn’t even give me a day to respond.

Why is it that the only company we can get electricity through? I am not even in the town limits.

The lack of compassion from the lady at the Murphy Power Board when I told I got paid Friday and I would catch it up, and that I had fallen on some times due to me being out of work for kidney surgery twice, is why the world is going to hell.

I had to pay $35 reconnect fee. I could understand if I was always late, but I’m not.

Not everyone has a husband or mommy and daddy to fall back on. I am a single elderly lady who is struggling to make ends meet, and with people like her not giving any compassion is unreal.

Murphy Power needs to rethink how they treat customer who has paid on time for five years.

Obviously, I need power and I will pay that bill, but they need to understand the everyday for some has become a real struggle. My payment history should have spoken for itself, but they didn’t want to hear it. So just know if I could find another company that would supply me power, I would kick them to curb.

Say no to vouchers

From Ann Franklin of Charlotte

I am writing on behalf of The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan group.

In our state, 78 percent of students are educated in public schools. North Carolina taxpayer money is spread out over the state for school funding according to population.

Now $800 million of taxpayer money has been allocated for vouchers. Some vouchers would go to the wealthiest students. This takes funding away from counties that have few or no private schools. Schools in rural areas would receive less funding. Instead money would flow to Mecklenburg, Wake, Guilford, etc.

Please contact your legislators to say no to an expanded voucher program.

God loves the nation Israel

From Frank Combs of Blairsville, Ga.

When Jesus Christ walked upon His earth, He was rejected by His own people of Israel. It may look as if Christ labored in vain, but His confidence was in His heavenly Father; even the death of our Lord Jesus was a victory.

At Christ’s first coming, He brought salvation to the world. God’s purposes were not thwarted by evil planners. God heard the prayer of Christ, and He will be the One before whom all will one day bow and kneel and acknowledge as Lord.

God’s purpose on the earth centers around getting all its people back in Israel. When they are back in the land, then both the heavens and the earth can rejoice.

Today, however, everything is more or less out of place as far as the world is concerned. All are not back in their homeland.

The church should be in heaven with Christ, but the church is still in the world. The devil should be in hell, but he is walking around the earth seeking whom he can devour. The Lord Jesus Christ should be sitting upon His throne over the earth, but He is still at the right hand of God.

There are many things that have to be put in its proper state. Even the people of Israel think they have been forsaken by God, but what beautiful assurance God gives them that they are not forsaken.

In God’s time, He will restore the nation of Israel to its rightful place. God used the Gentiles in the past to scatter Israel’s people; however, at the end of time, God will bring them back into their land by the hands of the Gentiles. A fitting promise that God made to the nation of Israel.

Continue to pray for the nation of Israel and that God soon will say to His beloved Son Jesus, go get my people and bring them home to heaven.
