Opposed to exactly what?
I’ve heard Americans say they are opposed to Donald Trump for president because he makes the public uncomfortable. They detest his mean tweets, arrogant and bully verbiage, messy hair and nicknames for both Vichy Republicans and leftist political foes.
Let’s examine issues from the “opposed” perspective, because behaviors which embarrass one person may not demean another. Moreover, discomfort from embarrassment doesn’t correspond with what is effective or ineffective for a nation’s security and success. Policy actions, however, have a profound effect on our republic and citizenry.
Scrutinize a sample of Trump’s policies and accomplishments while he was our president for four years.
Who is opposed to?
- Seven million new jobs being created.
- Creating more than 1.2 million lost manufacturing and construction jobs.
- Ending the disastrous North American Free Trade Agreement and replacing it with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
- National unemployment rate reaching 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century.
- Unemployment for women hitting lowest rate in nearly 70 years.
- Home sales hitting their highest numbers since December 2006.
- Saving families $2,500 a year in lower electric bills and gas pump prices.
- Average inflation rates were 1.9 percent.
- Signing the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.
- Seven million Americans were lifted from welfare and secured jobs.
- Poverty levels plummeting to an all-time record low of 10.5 percent in 2019.
- Ending the practice of catch and release. Illegal aliens are detained pending removal and returned to native countries.
- Imposing tariffs on billions worth of Chinese imports, protecting American jobs, and stopping China’s abuses under the 1962 Trade Expansion Act and 1974 Trade Act.
