Your Opinion Matters: Daily Saving Time

Body

This week’s question

Daylight Saving Time began Sunday, March 8. How do you feel about it?

  • The U.S. should stick with using Standard Time year-round.
  • The U.S. should change to Daylight Saving Time year-round.
  • The U.S. should keep changing times, as we’ve been doing.

“I hate the different changes because it’s terrible and you can’t switch it. When you work and get home and it’s dark, you can’t do your chores.

“I want it to stay on the one we’re on now; that gives me plenty of time to play golf. You can get around now, but the other way you can’t get but nine holes in.”

Larry Sanders, Marble

“I’m not happy with the time changes. I think we should always stick with one time. It’s confusing for the elderly, it’s confusing for the children and the animals when you’re trying to keep up with their schedules. They have different excuses for why they do it, and I think it’s all B.S., it’s a control factor.

“We should stick with what we have now which is extended daylight. So it’s dark in the morning when the kids get up, oh well, I had to get up when it was dark.”

Debbie Sanders, Marble

“I don’t like it; it throws your whole system outta whack. I’d rather keep it one way, get your system used to it and stay that way.”

Carl Robinson, Murphy

“I like it right now. I like having the extra daylight, I wish they’d just keep it.”

Kimberly Knight, Morganton, Ga.

“I hate it, I feel like it’s unnecessary. It changes our whole time frame and just being tired all the time. Just keep it however it is for the whole year so we don’t have to flip-flop and remember to change the clocks and all that.”

Megan Lynch, Hiwassee Dam
