This week’s question: Should Congress approve any bills that would increase the national deficit which is about $36.2 trillion and rising today?

Yes, if lawmakers think it’s necessary.

  • Yes, but only during a national emergency.
  • Yes, but only during times of war.
  • No, it’s a matter of principle.
.

“I say no because I think we’re in too deep right now to ever get out, in an emergency or anything else, so no.”

“No absolutely not because my kids, grandkids and great grandkids are going to have to pay for it as it is right now. It’s so overwhelming that it’s almost an impossibility, probably for the next 100 years.”

“Well, they’re supposed to be getting money from all the stuff they’ve found through DOGE as well as monies received through the tariffs. The money that DOGE is finding and saving should be applied to paying down the national debt. We should not spend any more money.”

"No. I don’t think being in debt is a good thing. You should pay from what you have not from what you don’t have.”

“I say no because it’s too high now. We need to quit spending money. Put it on the individual states that
are spending the money. California spends more money than any other state, so some of this debt that’s coming from the federal government needs to be reassigned to the individual states. States need to take responsibility for the people that live there. They should take some of the burden off the federal government that’s handing money away like it’s candy. There needs to be accountability.”
