This week’s question: Which level of government do you think best serves the needs of all residents?

  • Town government
  • County government
  • State government
  • Federal government
  • No government
.

“It should be local, but usually it’s federal government
that seems to do the best. The federal things seem to affect us all, but local things seem like they never change.”

Jim Hall, Ranger

.

“Local and state government because (the Department of Social Services) helps kids and families with lower income who can barely make it from paycheck to paycheck. They help with Medicaid, food and medical.”

Jodi Payne, Martins Creek

.

“Federal, I’m not too familiar with state government, but I think the government we’ve got now will do better for us than anything. They control all of the governments anyway.”

Donnie Melancon, Peachtree

.

“Federal because they affect more states. If you’re stuck in one state, the federal government covers that, plus all the other states. If you wanna move, you’ve got the federal government taking care of everything instead of just state to state.”

Sharon Hotho, Peachtree

.

“State and federal government because of the welfare and public assistance and college programs. Here we don’t have a lot of things like rehab and housing. Those things are kinda lacking on the small level here in this particular area.

“I believe the higher levels of government are more helpful for the people because they have more funding. In our area, the town and county aren’t offering a lot of things I think people need.”
