U.S. Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) voted for “The Respect for Marriage Act,” which would require the federal government to recognize a same-sex marriage between two individuals if the marriage was valid in the state where it was performed.
What about respect for the Bible, for God’s principles and for His gender assignment?
Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female ...” Two genders only, not a gender fluidity in which people choose their own gender.
What about respect for God’s design for marriage?
Genesis 1:28 says, “God blessed them [the male and female] and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it, rule over every living creature.’”
The fact that two people of the same sex can’t procreate should provide a clue that this type of union isn’t according to God’s plan and design.
What about respect for the Defense of Marriage Act, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would legally define marriage as a union of one man and one woman? President Barack Obama’s 2008 political platform endorsed the repeal of DOMA.
Same-sex unions are talked about in the Bible. Romans 1 says “God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another [25]. They exchanged the truth of God for a LIE ...[25]. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural affections for unnatural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” [27]. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done” [28].
How long are “we the people” going to allow this tyranny to exist, and to let people with depraved minds rule over us?
Senators, how are you securing and protecting the religious freedom of Christians and conservatives in America by voting for this depravity? You say that the Respect for Marriage Act “Confirms that nonprofit religious organizations will not be required to provide any services, facilities or goods for the solemnization or celebration of a marriage.” Do you remember how many Christians trying to protect their faith and freedom have been successfully sued by queer couples for not providing them services?
This act degrades the moral fiber of our nation, and it precipitates our downfall like that of former great nations that fell into moral decay.
