In new year, resolve to be happy every day

Our new year is here. I’m resolved to be happy every day, even for a moment, even if I have to hunt for the reason or the feeling.
Everyone is invited to join this way of living the year. Make it fit your own words and how your own life works.

Beyond this, I’ll do my part for creating hope, peace, kindness and joy for myself and the world around me. Let’s think about this. A great deal of the world and its happenings are outside my control and probably not in your control either.

These four things I like to have in my life (hope, peace, kindness, joy) all depend on my attitude, and maybe even a creative twist on how I experience the details of my day.

It’s easy to lose hope, especially when several major things seem hopeless. This year, I’ll hope for something I’m likely to have, like to see a bird flying or for someone to wave back at me when I wave hello. I’m more likely to really be happy when either of these things happen, and I’ll feel free to keep on hoping.

I want peace in the whole world. I might not have all the peace I want in my own little world,
but I can notice what’s peaceful and help it grow if I practice peace within myself. Same with kindness and joy. The more I’m kind and joyful, the more both of those might be given back to me.

I think about resolving to clean and de-clutter my house, but hope, peace, kindness and joy seem to matter more. Let’s all take time to sort through our priorities, and make something happen this year that matters to us.
