This has always been a great time of year in Andrews Valley, but even more so in 2024 with all of the improvements in town and many special events on the schedule.
Let’s start with public safety. Andrews cycled through so many police chiefs over the last two decades that the town became known as the “chief killer.” Thankfully, after less than half a year on the job, Police Chief Caleb Stiles seems poised to end the town’s unfortunate reputation.

The numbers speak for themselves. Since January, the Andrews Police Department has received around 450 calls for service and conducted 168 traffic stops, while completing nearly 350 security checks and extra patrol requests. Officers have also made significant progress in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs.
Another group giving local residents good reason to feel optimistic is Valleytown Fire & Rescue. Since taking over for the now-defunct Andrews Fire Department and Andrews Rescue, Valleytown has answered 100 percent of dispatches. Since there’s really no such thing as giving 110 percent, that’s as good as you can get.
Enjoy art? Then you’ll love what’s happening at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, which hosts concerts, plays and other events. Plus, the Andrews Public Library continues to be an excellent resource downtown.
Then there are our friends at the Andrews Chamber of Commerce, which have a tremendous slate of events scheduled – the Spring Fling is coming up Saturday, April 20, while you can also look forward to Food Truck Fridays starting May 10; Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 28; Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 26; and the tremendous Christmas on Main on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Add in the town’s annual Fourth of July festivities and the nighttime Christmas parade – which is set for Saturday, Dec. 14 – and there are a lot of reasons to spend more time in Andrews this year.
