The Andrews Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner meeting on June 18, with a record crowd showing up in Andrews United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall downtown to celebrate what has been a productive year for both the chamber and the town.
Despite what some people think, Andrews is growing. At least 14 new businesses have opened or will open by the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year June 30, and other entrepreneurs are kicking the tires around town in search of a place for their potential business. This is good news.

The town will again host the Cherokee County Fair at Andrews Recreation Park this fall. There will be rides, games, food, vendors and entertainment – including Georgette Jones, the daughter of a pretty famous country singer. This is good news.
The chamber of commerce and Town of Andrews partner every year to place almost 100 flower baskets and fill flower beds throughout downtown via sponsorships from local individuals, organizations and businesses, which makes the area more colorful at no cost to taxpayers. Plus, a “Winter Basket Sponsorship” has been created – which Industrial Opportunities Inc. is sponsoring for two years – so there will be beautiful greenery during the cold months. This is good news.
The chamber of commerce’s first-class website is reaching people around the world. The chamber’s signature events – Spring Fling, Oktoberfest and Christmas on Main Street – are getting bigger. Other chamber events – like Food Truck Fridays and Trunk or Treat – also report higher attendance, along with the town’s annual Christmas parade. This is all good news.
Even better news would be seeing more residents shop local and put their community’s businesses first. Andrews is poised to break out of its shell and allow more people to see what a truly nice place it really is.
