The horrible Covid virus is a plague sent by Satan.
Don’t join him, and don’t surrender. Don’t run from the fight, and don’t wave the white flag.
Sword and shield for this war are a good mask, and the vaccine shot. Don’t shy away from either one; don’t let the fog of lies swirling around us bring you down.
For your own sake and the sake of your family, please get the shot, wear the mask. And don’t be a secret spreader – we don’t want it.
Preaching again
Hate to be preaching again, but the times demand it. Would rather be a simple storyteller.
Two weeks ago in this space, I wrote that your actions either resist the deadly Covid or help it continue its horrible attack on us. No neutral ground, and no place to hide.
The virus is more deadly, more contagious than the original strain, which was bad enough on its own.
Its “second verse,” the Delta version, is raging through our land. A third one, even worse, has been discovered in South Africa.
Thankfully, our vaccines seem to be effective against them all, but at lower level than seen against the original infections.
No matter, I took a flu shot once that was said to be just 40 percent effective. Took it anyway; in my book, 40 is so much better than zero defense. Which is what you have if you refuse the vaccine shot.
God’s work, our hands
They say the Lord’s work gets done by human hands, and I believe it.
An example is the work I joined years ago at our local food bank, the Sharing Center. Before the food can be sorted and given out, it is hauled in on trucks.
Lots of good-natured joking among the sturdy men who unload the trucks, putting the food in storage underneath the Methodist church downtown. But we sometimes get tired.
“Doing the Lord’s work,” I remind them. “Hungry children will be fed because of your work today …”
The vaccine that defeated polio was a gift from God, and we stood in line for it. Not a picket line in protest, either.
The vaccines and masks are gifts from Him also. Best front-line weapons we have.
So anyone who discourages the use of either one is doing Satan’s work. Think about it.
‘No vacancy’ sign
Each of us needs to get the vaccine, which hangs out the “no vacancy” sign for Covid to see, meaning we don’t want the demon nor will we serve him by spreading it.
Willfully refusing the shot means your sign plainly reads “vacancy” and you’re volunteering to host the deadly virus and assist in spreading it, even if you’re unaware of it.
Vaccines have helped the human race defeat a lot of killer diseases, and I wish there was a easy-to-take pill that gave the same protection, but there is none.
You can’t drink bleach or inject horse wormer medicine against the virus safely.
Unvaccinated people are keeping Covid alive and choking hospitals by their sheer numbers, some 98 percent of patients being those who said “no” to the shot. Insisting on your so-called “right” to refuse the vaccine endangers the whole herd of us because it is reckless behavior in the threat of Covid, like reckless
driving.
You’re not resisting the threat, you’re volunteering yourself as a soldier for Covid in the near future.
