In today’s rapidly evolving world, preparing students for the future involves more than just traditional academics. Career & Technical Education (CTE) is a crucial component in equipping middle school students with the skills and knowledge they need for future success.

Cherokee County Schools commitment to CTE is evident in the exceptional programs offered across our three middle schools, where dedicated educators are sparking students’ interests in technology and beyond.

At Andrews Middle School, we are thrilled to welcome Stephanie Phillips as our long-term substitute teacher. Stephanie is set to make a significant impact by teaching Minecraft and introducing students to the vast and exciting world of technology. Through interactive and engaging lessons, Stephanie will help students understand the fundamentals of digital literacy and ignite their passion for tech careers.

At Hiwassee Dam Middle School, Whitney Tanner is leading an innovative program that emphasizes internet safety, technology careers, and, of course, Minecraft. Whitney’s approach ensures that students not only explore the fun side of technology but also gain essential skills in navigating the digital world safely and effectively.

Murphy Middle School boasts two remarkable CTE educators. David Decker is imparting crucial knowledge on basic coding, computer skills and troubleshooting. His instruction provides students with a solid foundation in handling technology and problem solving. Complementing this, Robert Payne’s classes delve into technology and Minecraft, further enhancing students’ engagement with the subject matter.

These dynamic CTE programs are more than just introductory courses. They are designed to foster curiosity, build confidence and prepare students for future careers in technology. By integrating interactive tools like Minecraft and practical skills such as coding and troubleshooting, our middle schools are

making information technology both accessible and exciting for students.

As our students explore these opportunities, they are not just learning about technology – they are preparing for a future where digital skills are increasingly essential. Our dedicated teachers are making this exploration both enjoyable and educational, setting the stage for future success in an ever-evolving field.

In summary, Career & Technical Education in middle school is more than just an enrichment activity; it is a vital component of preparing students for the careers of tomorrow. With the support of our outstanding educators, we are confident that our students are well on their way to becoming the technology leaders of the future.
