Pressley
Murphy – A 31-year-old local homeless man faces assault and malicious conduct charges after a firearms incident with a narcotics officer on May 6.
Dustin Aaron Pressley was being held at the Cherokee County Detention Facility in lieu of $300,000 bond. He has a long history of run-ins with law enforcement and was facing a habitual felon charge when he was arrested on May 6.
According to court documents, Pressley unlawfully, willfully and feloniously assaulted Cherokee County Narcotics Agent J. Parker Morgan and other enforcement officers of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the documents, Pressley unsuccessfully tried to take a law enforcement officer’s 9mm handgun from its holster as the officers and Pressley scuffled during service of an arrest warrant dating from February.
He was quoted as saying, “If I had gotten that gun out I would have blown your (expletive) head off.” He also projected bodily fluid, such as spitting on the arresting officers.
