Trevis Hicks/Contributing Photographer Cleaning up: The Rotary Club of Murphy spent a few hours on the morning of Aug. 24 cleaning up litter on its designated route from downtown to the four-lane highway. A big thank you goes to Jim and Phyllis Gerke, Kathy Yost, Tracy Davis, Kevin Hoeschen, Ed Jones, Jacky Egli and M.J. Belcher, who worked hard on the club’s first trash pickup of this year. Together, members collected 11 bags of trash for pickup by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
