Why packages not delivered?
I have had an ongoing problem with my U.S. mail packages not being delivered to my home on Marrestop Road.
After the eighth round trip of 25 miles one way, I was told by a postal clerk, that I had pulled a gun on my mail carrier. The lobby had other patrons in it. I was totally embarrassed.
I’m 75 years old, 4 feet-8 inches tall and weigh less than 100 pounds. I’ve never been a personal gun carrier and never walk around with one.
I’ve called and tried to speak to the postmaster, and every time he answered, once I told my reason for calling he put me on hold for 20 minutes and never returned. I called a few days later, and he pulled the same stunt again.
I’ve made a formal compaint with the U.S. Postal Service, and so far no reply.
He is slandering my good name. If someone had pulled a gun on him, why didn’t he call the police?

N.C. needs a forensic audit
We need a forensic audit in North Carolina. There are most likely egregious election irregularities in all of our states.
The Nov. 29, 2020, “County Boards of Elections Complete Post-Election Audits” (hand-to-eye audit) news release was nice, but as we’ve seen, forensic audits catch many sophisticated technical irregularities that the old hand to eye method don’t. It is a good first step, but by no means is it sufficient to ensure that every legal vote counted.
North Carolina needs to be proactive, step up and ensure that our state’s elections are beyond reproach. If they are found to have issues, then let’s be on the crest of the wave to rectify those issues to ensure every legal vote counts.

Make driving great again?
Seeking sanity from inside the beast is rather pointless except for the fact that sanity contains its own reward. Perfection in all things, everywhere. Each object, viewed from a particular perspective, is immensely beautiful.
On the other hand, our entire human existence might be viewed by an impartial universal judge as a horrendously evil freak of nature.
Two of the things I really wanted as a spoiled white middle-class teenager were a quiet typewriter and a clean quiet car, both objects of clothing for my bizarrely fashioned ego. Computers are our beautiful quiet writing machines, and I swear before dying, to own and drive a ‘lectric car. Sure, cars produce other problems like congestion, freeways, parking lots; tires and fenders, but without the gas burning, the combustion, it will be much funner. I promise.
Why, we could maybe even make driving a good thing again?

Save trees in the mountains
UV radiation is frying the trees, and it’s getting worse by the day.
Turn off the television. Get off your device and do a little observation.
If you are a local, you will know the state of our vegetation is not normal. The mountains are marbled with brown and yellow – looks closer to fall than spring. The pines and dogwoods are really taking a hit. I’m certainly no botanist or arborist, but I have lived here pretty much my whole life and have never seen leaves turn yellow and brown and begin to crumble in June.
Once more I’ll quote Dane Wigington, the founder of geoengineeringwatch.org: “NO TREES, NO PEOPLE” – simple equation.

Citizens for a better meeting
I am responding to a letter to the editor in last week’s edition by Tony Tharp titled, “Not a better America here.”
I, too, was at the same meeting of Citizens for a Better America. What I saw was a group of God-loving, patriotic, regular people meeting together to share information, discuss important issues that we are being faced with in these troubling times and working together to make positive change.
Calling everyone who was there “a group of aging sad sacks who want only to stew in hatred of those with different thoughts” is untrue and offensive. At no time were those type of things brought up or discussed.
This group is bipartisan and welcomes all patriots. I am not even sure why this person attended. Standing up, declaring yourself a Democrat and not offering any intelligent ideas, information, actions or solutions just seems to me that you have nothing better to do but seek something to complain about.
Maybe you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. The only aging sad sack this patriot sees is you. Shame on you.
Step up and do something for this country instead of criticizing others for trying. Seems like you are the only one stewing in hatred for anyone or group that has different thoughts than you. If you indeed have any thoughts, I have not heard them – only insults.
So what exactly are you doing? Are you a patriot or not?
Stand up and speak up for positive change in our country, or just shut up. You, or anyone like you, will not deter us from our God-given mission.
It’s not about left or right or being on a side. It’s about good vs. evil. Which side do you want to be on?

Red, white & ‘blue’ needed
I am responding to the article about the July 4 festival in downtown Murphy.
The local chamber of commerce along with Murphy Business Association are calling the event the “Red, White & Brew.” I find that offensive.
I am not against a beer garden as one of the attractions. However, have they forgotten what July 4 represents? It is the day our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence. What a victory for our country.
Many lives of our veterans have been lost fighting for our freedom. This should remain in our hearts. The festival should be about our country … “let freedom ring.” This is not a time to promote a brewery.
I hope there are still people who feel the same why I do. Give thanks for our continued independence that is under fire at this time. Enjoy a safe holiday.

Should God bless America?
I often hear Americans say, “God bless America!” How dare we ask God to bless America? God will not bless America because we have become a cesspool of violence, depravity and wickedness.
Our nation’s conscience has been seared. We have lost our moral compass. We are as those in the days of Noah.
We have murdered more than 62,503,000 babies. Sodomite, lesbian, drag queen, transgender and pedophile behaviors are treated as normal. Our tax dollars support the NEA teaching our children how to fornicate safely, to accept sexual perversions, atheistic evolution, critical race theory and teach rewritten history. Our children are dumber than ever.
Endless wars murdering millions is called “defending our nation.” Our schools are filled with drugs, STDs and failing grades. Child sex trafficking is rampant. About 44 million Americans watch porn regularly.
We have 1 million gang members, most fatherless, murdering and destroying their neighborhoods. The government is run by lying, thieving, godless Communists. The illegal alien invasion has brought us drugs, child traffickers, murderers and criminals, and our government supports them with taxpayer billions.
Our courts have outlawed the Ten Commandments and prayer from our schools. We have kicked God to the curb.
Why aren’t America’s men standing against this tsunami of evil? Where are the pastors preaching hell’s fire and repentance? Most pastors have done nothing to come against our nation’s sins. Their backbone filleted, impotent, and their congregation left rudderless and apathetic.
Jesus said our apathy toward sin makes Him want to spew us out of His mouth. Our indifference makes Jesus want to puke.
The Lord’s hand of blessing has been removed from America, and His judgment has come. America is about to be taken down. Bring it on Lord Jesus, holy and true. America deserves Your just judgment.

Take care with your fireworks
With the Fourth of July nearing, Phantom Fireworks encourages its friends and customers to be considerate of your neighbors when using state legal fireworks. We often get too caught up in the excitement and entertainment of the beautiful fireworks that we forget the noise and lights may have an adverse effect on some people and animals.
Be courteous to your neighbors. Communicate with them. Notify your neighbors before using your fireworks to allow them to prepare themselves and to enjoy your show.
Respect your neighbor’s property. Keep the area where you are using your fireworks open and away from your neighbor’s property to prevent accumulation of fireworks remains in their area. When the show is over clean up your fireworks debris.
Firework safety is crucial. Always have a ready source of water close by in case of emergencies. Maintain plenty of distance between the site where you light the fireworks and spectators and buildings. It is very important to honor a curfew. Generally professional shows end by 11 p.m. Please respect your neighbors by ending at a reasonable time.
Phantom reminds you to follow the law and apply common sense. Be safe, have fun and enjoy your Fourth of July.
