Say it isn’t so! Publisher David Brown caught on camera with his hand in the cookie jar – or, to be specific, his old guitar case in the Dumpster. Busted!
What’s next on this trail of unlawfulness – turning right on red or forgetting to floss?
The incident did spark some questions about Cherokee County’s garbage and recycling efforts. When the recycling bins at our area convenience center are full, we are told by the friendly attendant to put the recyclables in the trash bins.
If some or all of the sorted recyclables end up with the bagged household garbage, then why recycle? Is it only to abide by environmental regulations necessary to maintain a sanitary landfill? Or to satisfy our desire to make a difference? Does the county generate any revenue from the sorted materials?
Meanwhile, I hope folks will work harder to keep our beautiful mountains clean.
David, the next time you’re at the convenience center – smile!
