In 1966, The Beach Boys told us they were pickin’ up good vibrations – from a her, of course – but it turns out the band was really onto something; good vibrations are a real thing.

Lesley Klein – a part-time Murphy resident on Willscott Mountain with her husband, Rick – has known that for some time, but today she’s putting her principles into practice. She is one of 150 authors of an international bestselling book, 1 Habit for Entrepreneurial Success, and the opportunities the book has created had her speaking with me last week from Phoenix, where she was preparing for a seminar with SHEROES. (That’s not a typo.)

“Life is easier when we’re not judging things as good or bad but just accepting them as they are,” she said. “Be more into observing instead of reacting.”

Klein’s chapter in the book is called “Choose Positive Affirmation,” and it’s exactly as it sounds. Canceling negative thoughts and programming our subconscious mind to work in our favor are important to her because “everything starts with your mindset!”

She’s right, of course. I’m a perfectionist, and since nothing is perfect I’m usually disappointed. Folks like me need to take Klein’s advice and learn how to “be the captain” of our ships.

“If you are not aware of your thoughts and are just living a reactionary life, you will be on a boat that gets tossed around during a stormy sea,” Klein wrote. You’ll have to get the book to read the rest.

Being an entrepreneur is nothing new for Klein, who operated her own metaphysical bookstore in Palm Harbor, Fla., for 16 years. Her business, Frequency Wellness Lifestyle, sells a wearable wellness device, the Healy, that uses frequency to balance and harmonize our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. And the door has been opened for her to participate in a digital talk show on Good Vibes TV.

In short, staying true to what she loves and working hard has led Klein to a more fulfilling career than she ever could have imagined. We talked about how healing plants are gaining ground in mainstream medicine. We talked about how to take our inner light and let it shine. And we talked about how listening to The Beatles is a vibration of love, which makes perfect sense to this Beatlemaniac.

All of this positive energy just might herald the coming of the Age of Aquarius, when people are supposed to come together, which would be perfect for Klein. “Let’s stop spreading hate and start spreading joy and love,” she said.

The sad truth is too many young people don’t look at a career the right way. All they think about is getting a job and making money, as opposed to trying to discover what they truly want to do, what makes them happy and what they have a particular talent for.

As Klein has learned, if you love what you do, think positively and keep an entrepreneurial spirit, you’ll never have a bad day at the office.
