Marble – A local man faces numerous charges, including six felonies, after law enforcement serving an arrest warrant resulted in a barricaded man shooting off three rounds on Dec. 1.
Levi Charles Moss, 30, of 195 LJ Moss Lane, was being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center in lieu of $760,000 bond as of Monday. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon against sheriff’s deputies and two drug charges.
Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies went to the residence Dec. 1 just before 6 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant for felony larceny, according to court records.
On Dec. 1, Moss allegedly stole from relatives a Garmin tracking system, six Garmin dog tracking collars, a Husqvarna 440 chainsaw and Kobalt tool set all valued at $3,500, according to court records.

As deputies approached, Moss allegedly barricaded himself inside an attic and elsewhere in the house, and fired three shots through a window at them from a Glock 9 mm handgun “to cause fear of injury or death,” according to court records.
Deputies said they could hear Moss either loading or unloading a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, according to a 911 transcript, resulting in misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charges. Deputies fired a Taser at him but he was able to dodge it.
Moss moved about the house, from the attic, to the living room, to the kitchen, during the barricade, according to the records. He told a dispatcher who reached him by phone that he didn’t want to come out because he would get Tased. Dispatchers attempted to persuade him to come out and surrender unarmed, but he kept hanging up the phone.
A request was sent to Macon County for tear gas and non-lethal barricade rounds, while emergency medics were staged at LJ Moss Lane and Hyatt Creek Road.
Law enforcement again reached Moss by phone but he hung up, then spoke to them through a window. He was taken into custody at 10 p.m., about four hours after the standoff started.
Moss was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In November, Moss was arrested on charges of communicating threats, assault by pointing a gun, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Moss was already facing numerous other charges from an April 2024 incident that included drug charges, resisting arrest, fleeing arrest, reckless driving and various traffic violations.
