Atlanta – Three former Ultimate Fighting Championship champions are on the card Saturday for UFC Fight Night 190 at State Farm Arena.
Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas are set to step into the octagon as their quest to get another title continues. Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is also scheduled to fight.
Usman will be in the main event against welterweight title contender Joaquin Buckley. Namajunas will be in the co-main event against Miranda Maverick in the women’s flyweight division, while Garbrandt is going up against Brazil’s Raoni Barcelos.
Main card
Buckley wants the welterweight title, but Usman wants the title back. This fight will have implications on who could be next in line to fight for the UFC gold.
After moving up to middleweight in his last bout to fight Khamzat Chimaev in October 2023, Usman (20-4) is returning to welterweight Saturday night.
Usman, the No. 5 ranked welterweight, made his UFC debut in 2015, winning The Ultimate Fighter 21. He went on to win 14 consecutive fights, which included taking the title in 2019 and successfully defending it five times.
His winning streak came to an end on 2022, when he lost the championship fight to Leon Edwards. That loss to Edwards started a three-fight losing skid for Usman that he is hoping to snap Saturday night.
Buckley (21-6) will step into the octagon for his second straight main event. In his last fight, he was on the top bill for a UFC Fight Night where he defeated three-time title challenger Colby Covington by doctor’s stoppage technical knockout.
The No. 7 ranked welterweight is also riding the momentum of a six-fight winning streak that he will try to keep alive Saturday night.
Buckley was spin-kicked into the spotlight when he knocked out Impa Kasanganay in an unbelievable fashion. Buckley went for a kick to the midsection, but it was caught by Kasanganay. While Kasanganay was still holding the foot of Buckley, he spun around and landed a head-kick knockout.
These two motivated men will likely go to war Saturday with UFC gold just a fight or two away. At the sports book, the younger Buckley opened as a -260 favorite, while Usman was a +210 underdog.
The co-main event hopes to be just another stepping stone for “Thug” Rose Namajunas in her quest to once again earn UFC gold. Namajunas (14-7) will be taking on Miranda Maverick (17-5).
Namajunas is a two-time UFC champion and No. 7 ranked women’s flyweight. She earned UFC gold at strawweight in 2017 and 2021, successfully defending each belt once. She is coming off of a five-round decision loss to Erin Blanchfield.
This is Namajunas’ second time fighting in Atlanta. Her fight time was in the co-main event at UFC 201 in 2016, when she lost to Karolina Kowalkiewicz by split-decision. This is also the fourth time she has fought on a UFC fight card with Usman in the main event.
Maverick, the No. 11 ranked women’s flyweight fighter, comes into the co-main event on a four-fight win streak. She started the win streak with a submission, then followed it up with three unanimous decisions.
This fight will likely go the distance, but it could also end in a finish as both fighters are looking to make a statement in the quest to reach the top of the flyweight division. In the sports book, Namajunas opened as a -275 favorite and Maverick was a +225 underdog.
Both fighters will step into the octagon for the second time this year as Edmen Shahbazyan (14-5) takes on Andrews Petroski (13-4) in the middleweight division. At 27 years old, “The Golden Boy” Shahbazyan comes into the fight after winning a first-round knockout earlier this year.
Shabazyan has a history with UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, as they trained together at Glendale Fighting Club before he made the move to Xtreme Couture. He was also previously managed by Rousey’s One Fight Management.
Petroski comes into this fight on a three-fight win streak. He started his UFC career with five straight wins before suffering two losses.
Shahbazyan is a striker, while Petroski is a freestyle fighter. Both men have wins by knockout, submission and decision. This fight should keep fans entertained whether it’s on the feet or the ground.
The third fight of the main card features former UFC bantamweight champ Garbrandt (14-6) against Barcelos (19-5).
“No Love” Garbrandt made his UFC debut in 2015, starting his UFC career with six straight wins. The sixth consecutive win was an unanimous decision over Dominick Cruz, earning Garbrandt the bantamweight championship at UFC 207 in 2016. He lost the title to T.J. Dillashaw in 2017.
Garbrandt lost his last fight to Deiveson Figueiredo in 2024 by second-round submission. Meanwhile, Barcelos comes into this fight on a two-fight win streak, including a third-round submission victory in 2024. He made his UFC debut in 2018 and started his time in the UFC with five straight wins.
Barcelos is also 1-1 against fighters with the last name Nurmagomedov. He defeated Said, but was knocked out by Umar.
This bout is striker versus striker, and both fighters are willing to go out on their shield. The fight will either be a three-round slugfest or someone’s getting knocked out.
The second fight on the main card is undefeated Mansur Abdul-Malik (8-0) against Cody Brundage (11-6).
Abdul-Malik comes into the fight with a 2-inch height advantage and a 7.5-inch reach advantage. He made his professional debut in 2021 and has gone on to finish every fight with seven of those being knockouts. His first five professional fights were won in the first round.
He got a second-round knockout win in season eight of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024. In his two fights inside the octagon, both have been by knockout win in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Brundage started his professional career with five straight wins, but suffered his first loss on the Contender Series in 2020. His second career loss came in his UFC debut at UFC 266 in 2021.
During his time in the UFC, it has been a rollercoaster for Brundage. He is riding some momentum from a first-round knockout win during his last fight in March.
In this fight, look for Abdul-Malik to earn his ninth straight win to remain undefeated. The bout will likely stay on the feet, but Brundage could use his wrestling to stay alive, as he averages more than two takedowns per fight.
Kicking off the main card Saturday is a light heavyweight bout between Alonza Menifield (16-5-1) and Oumar Sy (11-0).
Menifield snapped a two-fight losing streak with a split decision win earlier this year and will look to get another win. However, he is facing one of the two undefeated fighters on the card.
Sy boasts an undefeated record since making his professional debut with Eagle FC in 2019. Out of his 11 wins, eight of them have been a finish.
Seven of his eight wins by knockout or submission have come in the first round. In his two UFC bouts, he earned a first-round submission and an unanimous decision.
Sy also has a 4-inch heigh advantage and 7-inch reach advantage. Menifield will look to keep the fight on the feet and use his striking to try and earn a win, but Sy has proved he can win a fight on his feet or the ground.
The entire card will be broadcast live on ESPN+ for those with a subscription.

Prelims
In Saturday’s feature prelim fight, Paul Craig (17-9-1) is set to take on Rodolfo Bellato (12-2-1). Despite the fighters having similarities in height and stance, they are in different situations coming into to Saturday’s bout.
Bellato of Brazil is 4-0-1 in his last five fights. He won his final two fights in LFA, got a knockout win is his second appearance on the Contender Series, won his UFC debut, then his fight earlier this year at UFC 312 ended in a draw.
On the other hand, Scotland’s Craig is on a three-fight losing streak, where he was finished in two of the three. His last win came by knockout on July 22, 2023. Despite the three-fight losing streak coming into Saturday, Craig has notable wins over Magomed Ankalaev, Mauricio Rua, Jamahal Hill and Nikita Krylov.
Two UFC veterans are set to fight in the first of four fights between Americans. Michael Chiesa (20-7) and Court McGee (23-13) will step into the octagon for a welterweight matchup. The two fighters have a combined record of 43-20, which is the most bouts between two competitors on the card.
Chiesa made his UFC debut in 2012 when he submitted Al Iaquinta to win The Ultimate Fighter. With his fight Saturday, Chiesa will have fought at least once every year for the last 13 years. He is riding a two-fight win streak that started with a first-round submission against Tony Ferguson on Aug. 3, 2024.
Like Chiesa, McGee made his UFC debut when he won The Ultimate Fighter two years prior. He has been in the UFC for 15 years. He has also fought multiple champions before they got gold, such as Robert Whittaker, Sean Strickland and Carlos Condit.
In the men’s flyweight division, Cody Durden (17-7-1) is set to take on Jose Ochoa (7-1). Both fighters are the same height and reach, and are coming off a loss.
Durden is making his 13th UFC appearance, while Ochoa is making only his second. Durden’s ground game will likely be on display, as he averages four takedowns per fight.
Striking will also be on display between the southpaws. Both average more than three significant strikes per minute, but Durden has a 51.72% accuracy of his significant strikes and Ochoa has a significant strike accuracy of 35.12%.
Two mixed martial arts veterans will be in action when Ricky Simon (21-6) takes on Charles Jourdain (16-8-1).
Simon was the last fighter to defeat Merab Dvalishvili and the only fighter to beat him by knockout or submission. He defeated the current bantamweight champion by submission in 2018.
Simon snapped a three-fight losing streak with a knockout of Javid Basharat on Feb. 22.
Jourdain snapped a two-fight losing streak when he submitted Victor Henry on Nov. 2, 2024. In the UFC, Jourdain has finished five of his seven wins, with three by knockout and two by submission.
The night will kick-off with women’s flyweight action as Tereza Bleda (7-1) takes on Jamey-Lyn Horth (7-2). Bleda will head into the octagon with a reach and age advantage. She has a 5-inch reach advantage and is 12 years younger than Horth.
In just her third UFC fight, Bleda will look to pick up a second-straight win. In 2022, she appeared on the Contender Series and picked an unanimous decision, earning her a UFC contract. She lost her debut in 2022, but bounced back with a win in 2023.
Horth is making her fifth UFC appearance when she walks to the octagon Saturday. She is 2-2 in the UFC, with all four fights going the distance. In her last fight, she lost by unanimous decision to Maverick, who will be in Saturday’s co-main event.
