Kernersville – Fern Crayton of Tri-County Early College won the 1A cross-country state championship Friday morning.
With a time of 20:04.55, Crayton crossed the finish line to win the title 10 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Oscar Page of Hiwassee Dam was the highest Cherokee County finisher in the boys race, coming in third place. Levi Clark was just behind him in fifth place as Andrews’ highest finisher.
In the team points, both the Tri-County girls team and Andrews boys team came in second place in their races.
The 1A N.C. High School Athletic Association cross-country state championship was held at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex on Friday morning.
