Track & field competes before spring break

Body

    Cherokee County varsity track & field teams competed at two locations in their last meet before a week off for spring break.
    Murphy hosted Hiwassee Dam, as well as Nantahala. Andrews and Tri-County Early College competed in Hayesville. Both competed simultaneously on April 1.

Murphy
    The Bulldogs had a strong showing at their second home meet of the season, with numerous athletes earning top-five finishes in their respective events.
    Girls earning first place finishes in their events were Rylei Howard in the 400-meter dash, CJ Yarbro in the 100m hurdles and triple jump and Valorie Jordan in the 300m hurdles.
    The girls 4x100m and 4x800m relay teams also took first place.
    Boys getting first place in their events were Ryan Payne in the 400m dash, Camden Breazeale in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, Cale Harger in long jump and Aaron Harger in discus.
    The boys 4x200m and 4x800m relay teams also came in first place.
    For the girls 100m dash, Rylee Tabor came in second place and Bella Kent came in third. Tabor also came in second in the 200m dash, while Ella Pinkerton came in third.
    Ayla Waters came in second in the 400m dash.
    In the 1,600m – or one mile – run, Hadley Rider came in third and Anna Leatherwood came in fourth.
    Jordan also came in second in the 100m hurdles.
    In the girls field events, Kent came in second in the high jump and Kinlee Herr came in fourth. In long jump, CJ Yarbro came in second, Jordan came in third and Kenzly Yarbro came in fourth.
    In triple jump, Jordan came in second.
    Amelia Joyner came in second in shot put and fourth in discus. 
    Ansley Roper came in third place in discus and fourth in shot put.
    For the boys, David Rochester came in second in the 100m dash while Way Herron came in third.
    Blake Davis came in fifth in the 200m dash. Jaden Rice came in third and Lane Hembree came in fourth in the 400m dash.
    In the 800m run, Zion Lewis came in third and Reyden Galarza came in fourth. In the 1,600m run, Grayson Hall came in fourth.
    In the field events, Hall also came in second in high jump. In triple jump, Dorian Taylor came in fifth.
    Trenton Cook came in second in discus and fifth in shot put. Anthony Catuto came in fifth in discus. Camden Breazeale came in second in shot put.

Hiwassee Dam
    The Eagles had two athletes come in first place in three events at Murphy High School, which were all distance running.
    Oscar Page came in first in the 1,600m and 3,200m runs, while Avery Freemon came in first in the girls 1,600m run.
    Freemon also came in fifth in the 800m run.
    Bella Krauter-Fabrizi came in fifth in the 100m dash and sixth in long jump. Sarah Stock came in fifth in shot put and sixth in discus.
    Chloe McNabb came in fifth in high jump. Hailee Barney came in 11th in the 800m run.
    For the boys, Maverick Hawley came in third in both the 1,600m and 3,200m runs. Travis Allen came in sixth in the 400m dash.
    Johnathan Bennett came in 10th in discus and 11th in shot put. Brandon Bishop came in 13th in both the discus and shot put.

Nantahala
    The Hawks competed at Murphy High School with Samuel Bateman coming in first in high jump. He also came in second in long jump, third in the 300m hurdles and fifth in the 1,600m run.

boys, Jameson Grchan came in sixth in the 1600m run and 12th in shot put. Pierce Phillips came in 11th in the 100m dash.
    Zack Bryant came in 10th in shot put and 11th in discus.
    For the Lady Hawks, Abbygail Sutton came in ninth in both the discus and shot put.
    Summer McMahan came in 11th in shot put and 14th in discus. Cylah Priest came in sixth in the 800m run.

Andrews
    The Wildcats headed to Hayesville to compete and had numerous athletes earn top five finishes. 
Wildcats who won their events were Kaiya Ellis in the 100m hurdles and triple jump, Jaden Crocker in discus, Alexis Beasley in shot put, Caleb Helton in high jump and Myca Mustin in triple jump.
    For the girls, Addison Waldroup came in second in the 100m dash and Yesenia Hernandez came in fifth. Soriah Cortes came in second in the 200m dash.
    In the 400m dash, Juliet Holloway finished in second and Hernandez came in third. Sadie Mustin came in fourth in the 300m hurdles.
    Ellis also came in second in the high jump. Cortes also came in second in long jump.
    In the triple jump, Marley Blackwell came in second, Sadie Mustin came in third and Natalie Garrett came in fourth.
    In discus, Sadie Mustin came in fifth. In shot put, Beth Beasley came in fourth.
    For the boys track events, Phisher Baxter came in second in the 100m dash. Isaac Patrick came in fourth and Myca Mustin came in fifth in the 200m dash.
    In the 400m dash, Myca Mustin came in second and Atticus Patrick came in third.
    Jayce Donaldson came in second in both the 800m and 1600m runs. Chase Beasley came in third in both the 110m and 300m hurdles.
    In boys field events, AJ Johnson came in second, Brady McClelland came in third and Will Phillips came in fourth in long jump.
    Christian Helton came in second in triple jump. In discus, Logan Patrick came in third and Brayden Helton came in fourth. Logan Patrick also came in second in shot put.

Tri-County Early College
    The Jaguars joined Andrews as they competed in Hayesville. Tri-County’s only first place finish came as Fern Crayton came in first in the 1600m run.
    Crayton also came in second in the 3200m run.
    For girls track events, Sophia Smith came in fourth in the 1600m run and fifth in the 800m run. Kadeesha Sudderth came in seventh in both the 400m and 800m dash.
    Bryanna Jaime came in fifth in the 1600m and sixth in the 800m runs. Catherine Gonzalez came in 10th in the 400m dash.
    For the boys, Mason Smith came in fifth in the 800m run and seventh in the 1600m run. Julian Arvizu came in seventh in the 800m run, eighth in the 1600m run and 15th in shot put.
    Leo Henningfeld came in 10th in the 800m run, 11th in the 400m dash and 19th in the 100m dash. Gage Hardin came in 12th in the 400m dash, 14th in the 200m dash and 18th in the 100m dash.
