Peachtree – Saturday night at the Peachtree Community Center was nothing short of electric as the American Championship Wrestling Federation held its July event, “Summer Retribution.”
The main event that capped off Saturday night had fans on their feet from the opening bell until the final three-count. The ACWF tag team championships, the Americans Outlaws (Axel Freakin’ Gunn and Killshot), successfully defended their belts against fan-favorite Men of Honor (Frodo and Stryker).
The champs came to the ring first met with a host of boos from the crowd. Frodo and Stryker came to the ring accompanied by a grocery cart full of weapons to use in their bunkhouse match, which means anything goes.
Before the opening bell rang, the American Outlaws jumped out of the ring and rushed the Men of Honor. They fought for a few minutes next to the snack bar before moving their way back to the ring. Frodo tied up with Gunn in the ring, while Killshot and Stryker stayed on the outside. Stryker threw Killshot into a chair in the front row, then proceeded to hit him in the head with a metal trashcan.
The crowd erupted and the fans were on their feet as the match picked up the pace. As they made their way back into the ring, more weapons were introduced. The American Outlaws had baseball bats with thumbtacks in them, which they used to melee the Men of Honor. Both tag teams used metal cookie sheets to hit each other over the head with.
Frodo pulled out a small white bag that contained the most diabolical weapon, Legos. He threw the Lego bricks on the mat, but they were used against him as Gunn slammed him into them.
Killshot also had a small bag of his own, which contained tacks that he added to the pile of Lego bricks for their opponent to be slammed on. As the match progressed, Killshot brought out a door from under the ring.
He set it up in the corner of the ring, then proceeded to spear Stryker through the door snapping it in two. Killshot again used the door later in the match, as he laid out one of the broken pieces on two steel chairs and slammed Frodo through the door.
The match ended with the American Outlaws retaining their championships. After the match, Mountain Man Jeremy Stiles and Kevin Seiber ran out to confront the American Outlaws and ran them back to the locker room.
The Chief came out and confronted the group. He then announced that there would be a rematch between Men of Honor and the American Outlaws at next month’s event, with the match being a tables, ladders and chairs match.
The American Outlaws said after the match that they are the best tag-team duo in ACWF.
The co-main event Saturday was between ACWF heavyweight champion Mr. Atlanta 2 and Digger James. The two big guys in the ring went at it, and Mr. Atlanta 2 came out on top to retain his belt.
After going back and forth landing big shots for the first few minutes of the match, it picked up. Mr. Atlanta 2 through Digger James to the outside, then picked him up and slammed him into the ring post before throwing him back in the ring.
Mr. Atlanta 2 pulled a quick move while he was in the corner, as he pulled Jeff the Ref in front of him and James slammed into him, which knocked down the ref. Mr. Atlanta 2 pinned James, but there was no count as the Jeff was knocked out.
The Chief came to the ring and did the three-count, and Mr. Atlanta 2 retained his belt. After the match, The Chief announced that there would be a rematch next month – with the stipulation that there would be two referees in the ring during the match.
Prior to that match, a rivalry that had been building up all year went down when the Freak took on Hypnahtik. The Freak came out on top after lots of back and forth throughout, as well as interference from outside the ring on Hypnahtik that the referee did not see.
Before that, a tag-team match between the Hardcore Outlaws and Albert Kiser and Billy the Kid. The Hardcore Outlaws got the win after a wild back-and-forth scrap.
The second match of the night, was between three well-known ACWF superstars in a triple-threat match between Seiber, Stiles and Gunn. Seiber returned to the ACWF ring after being out with injury.
Seiber won the match after Killshot, who was accompanying Gunn, interfered with the match. After the match, Stiles raised Seiber’s hand in victory and gave him a hug.
The first match of the night saw the debut of Flex Ferguson and Damian Hernandez as they competed in a triple-threat match against Killshot. Killshot secured the victory after using his size and strength to his advantage to heavily slam Ferguson and Hernandez.
From start to finish, fans were on the edge of their seat for another action-packed event. ACWF will return to the Peachtree Community Center for its next event Saturday, Aug. 3.
