Leave young wildlife alone

As the weather gets warmer, there is a greater chance humans will interact with wildlife.

If you see a baby animal, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is urging “if you care, leave them there.” If you think the animal needs help, the best thing you can do is leave it alone.

Commission fights disease

N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Executive Director Cameron Ingram announced April 12 that he has invoked emergency powers to help combat Chronic Wasting Disease in the state.

The first positive case of the disease in the state was detected in a white-tailed deer in Yadkin County on March 31, and the plan was created to help assist with isolation and detection of the disease in Yadkin, Surry and surrounding counties. To see what rules are now in place, visit the Wildlife Resources Commission website.
