Murphy alum named coach
Murphy High School 2004 graduate Tyrea Allen was named the head football coach at Rosman High School on Dec. 9.

Allen was an All-Smoky Mountain Conference performer in baseball, football and track when he was a Bulldog. He played football and track at Mars Hill University, where he graduated in 2009.
Allen was the junior varsity football coach the previous three seasons, and will have a tough challenge ahead. The Tigers have lost 33 straight games, including an 0-18 mark since leaving the Smoky Mountain Conference after the last N.C. High School Athletic Association realignment two years ago.
