Locals earn SMC honors
All-Conference honors were announced for the Big and Little Smoky Mountain Conferences.
For Hiwassee Dam in the Little Smoky Mountain Conference, Brinkley Payne was Player of the Year. Brooklyn Orton was Setter of the Year. All-Conference honors were also awarded to Gracie Rhodes and Avery McNabb. All-Conference honorable mentions were Abby Harris and Ryleigh Harris.
For Murphy in the Big Smoky Mountain Conference, Amelia Joyner earned All-Conference, while Holly Childs and Keistin Westmoreland were All-Conference honorable mentions.
Juliet Holloway earned All-Conference from Andrews. Also from Andrews, Cheanteah Rattler and Drea Cutshaw earned All-Conference honorable mentions.
WRESTLING
Sold out in Peachtree
The American Championship Wrestling Federation had another successful and sold-out professional wrestling show as they raised more than $1,000 for Shop With a Cop and collected almost 100 toys for Toys For Tots on Saturday night.
In the main event, Frodo defeated Dreadwing and Void. In the co-main event, Flex Ferguson defeated Kevin Seiber.
In a shocking turn of events, The Family defeated Digger James and Moki in tag team action. Billy Havoc then defeated Disturbed and Victor. Ace Hart then defeated American Standard.
The tag team of Vito and KZ defeated The Fallen. In solo action, Robert Starr defeated Adrian Hernandez. Then in the opening match, Mountain Man Jeremy Stiles defeated MD King.
FOOTBALL
Texans win flag league
The Texans of Andrews were crowned champions in the Cherokee County Flag Football League.
They won their championship on Oct. 23. After winning the championship, the team received rings for their accomplishment.
The team fought their way to a winning season with an accomplishment that paid off by winning the league championship.
BASKETBALL
Cats host alumni game
Andrews High School hosted an alumni basketball game Saturday evening.
Both boys and girls alumni basketball players were in attendance and competed in games.
Funds raised were for the Kenneth Solesbee Scholarship Fund.
The event was catered by Valley Smoky Barbeque.
