Local ladies teeing off with golfing league
Butternut Creek Golf Course and its Ladies Golf Association played host to the Mountain Ladies Golf League on July 11.
The surprise of the day goes to Susan Carmichael for a hole-in-one on No. 17. In addition, Beth Poczynski shot even par for best score, winning the first flight.
The second flight winner was Patti McDonald, while the third flight winner was Karen Evans and Kathy James took the fourth flight.

Middle school soccer team?
Andrews Middle School is trying to see if there’s enough interest to form a middle school soccer team this fall. The team will be open to kids in grades 6-8.

Tri-County Color Run
The Tri-County Community College Foundation will hold a 5K Color Run on Saturday through the main campus off U.S. 64 East. The event will raise funds to benefit students through institutional scholarship awards.
Registration is $40, which includes an event T-shirt that will be decorated with color powder at the beginning of the race. Prizes and medals will also be awarded to race participants.

Volleyball camp set
Andrews High School will hold a youth volleyball camp for rising third- through eighth-graders from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 26-28, in the high school gym.
Campers will have the opportunity to learn proper skills and mechanics, as well as gain knowledge of game play experiences from the Wildcats’ coaches and athletes.
The cost of the camp is $40. A registration form can be found on the Andrews High School Facebook page.
