Bigfoot 5K in north Ga.
The annual Bigfoot Boogie 5K will be held in McCaysville, Ga., on Saturday, Nov. 8, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The race will downtown McCaysville, through Copperhill, Tenn., back into Georgia and over the Toccoa River twice.
All runners will receive a medal at the finish line. All money raised the race, as well as the other two races in the Riverwalk Run Series, benefits the McCaysville Business Association.

RACING
Racing bill a new law
N.C. House Bill 926 was signed into law on Oct. 6. Within HB 926 is a law on noise ordinances surrounding racetracks.
Section 26 of the bill is “Protect the Right to Race.” Within a 3-mile radius of the perimeter of the property where a track sits, the racing facility has nuisance immunity.
Local facilities, like Tri-County Racetrack and Elevation Motocross in Brasstown, are immune from noise complaints after the bill gave them nuisance immunity.
BASKETBALL
Cats hosting alumni game
Andrews High School will be playing men’s and women’s alumni basketball games Saturday, Nov. 1. The women’s game will start at 6 p.m., with the men’s game to follow.
Money raised from the games will go to the Kenneth Solesbee Scholarship Fund.
Tickets are $5, only $2 for ages 10 and under. For $10,
Valley Smoke will have barbecue plates starting at 5 p.m.
