RACING

Cars racing on the 4th

Following the cancellation of the June 27 race at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, cars will hit the track Friday night to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Super Late Models return to Tri-County as the Ultimate Super Late Model Series comes to the track Friday night. Along with the car races, there will also be a bike race on the track for any kids who want to hit the track.

There will also be a fireworks display to celebrate July 4. In addition, Noah Carter of Hayesville will play the national anthem on electric guitar.

WRESTLING

Freedom to ring on Sat.

The American Championship Wrestling Federation will return to the squared circle at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Peachtree Community Center.

Let Freedom Ring will see many ACWF superstars hit the ring as well as the newly crowned ACWF tag team champions.

Men of Honor and American Outlaws will be in action, as well as newly crowned tag-team champs K-Zito. Rusty Rogers will make his ACWF debut, while Cyrus will be in action.

Flex Ferguson, Kevin Seiber, Digger James, Billy Havoc, Robert Starr, Mr. Atlanta 2 and many other ACWF stars will be on hand at the show.

BASEBALL

HD hosts ball camp

Hiwassee Dam is hosting a youth baseball camp Thursday and Friday, July 10-11, on the Eagles’ baseball field.

The camp, for ages 8-14, will be held from 5-7 p.m. each day. The camp will be held in the high school gym in case of inclement weather.

Registration is $40 per child and includes a Hiwassee Dam baseball T-shirt. The camp will be led by Eagles’ baseball coaches and players.

CHEERING

AHS hosts cheer camp

Andrews High School is hosting a youth cheerleading camp Monday through Wednesday, July 14-16, in the gym from 5-6:30 p.m. each day.

The camp is open to first- through eighth-graders looking to learn or refresh their skills in cheerleading. Cost is $35 per person to participate.
