RACING

Cars set to return

Cars will return to the track Friday for the Best Plumber 604 race, the series’ only race in North Carolina during the 2025 season. It’ll be a fast night of racing as 604 Late Models hit Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown.

Along with 604, 602, open wheel, front wheel drive, street stock and Crown Vics will be in action Friday night.

Pit tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for children 11-15 and free for ages 10 and under. Grandstand tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for ages 11-15 and free for ages 10 and under.

BASEBALL

HD’s camp for baseball

Hiwassee Dam is hosting a youth baseball camp Thursday and Friday, July 10-11, at the Eagles’ baseball field.

The camp, for ages 8-14, will be held from 5-7 p.m. each day. The camp will be held in the high school gym in case of inclement weather.

Registration is $40 per child and includes a Hiwassee Dam baseball T-shirt. The camp will be led by Eagles’ baseball coaches and players.

GOLF

Bulldogs’ teeing off

The Murphy High School Bulldog Club is hosting its 32nd annual golf tournament Saturday at Old Union Golf Club, 79 Scores Point in Blairsville, Ga.

The format is a three-man Texas scramble and will tee off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Cost is $85 per person to participate.

CHEERING

AHS hosts cheer camp

Andrews High School is hosting a youth cheerleading camp Monday through Wednesday, July 14-16, in the gym from 5-6:30 p.m. each day.

The camp is open to first- through eighth-graders looking to learn or refresh their skills in cheerleading. Cost is $35 per person to participate.
