Lady Cats get 1st win

With their 11-6 win over Hayesville, the Andrews softball teams is officially in the win column.

In their lone game last week, the Lady Wildcats earned their first victory of the season.

Kaiya Ellis led the team scoring three runs. Azlyn DeHart and Kylie Donaldson scored two runs each. Rileigh LeQuire, Katie Moses, Chanteah Rattler and Alexis Beasley also scored a run each.

Rattler ad Ellis also had four stolen bases each. DeHart and Donaldson had two stolen bases each. LeQuire and Beasley also had a stolen base each. Lauren Cochran had three strikeouts in her complete game win.

This week, the Lady Cats will wrap up their regular season at home against Hiwassee Dam at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

WRESTLING

Beasley heads to Georgia

Chase Beasley of Andrews competed at Pope High School in Marietta, Ga., in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

In freestyle, Beasley earned two straight wins in the championship bracket, then in the semi-finals. In the consolation bracket, he lost in the semi-finals to end his day freestyle wrestling.

In Greco-Roman competition, Beasley got a win in the quarter finals, then lost in the semi-finals of the championship bracket.

In the Greco-Roman consolation bracket, he got a win in the semifinals, but then lost in the third place bout to finish in fourth place.

WRESTLING

New start at ACWF

The American Championship Wrestling Federation will return to action with “A New Beginning” on Saturday, May 3, at the Peachtree Community Center, 125 Memory Lane.

The event will continue the fallout from their April 5 action-packed event.

ACWF superstars set to wrestle include American Outlaws Killshot and Axel Freakin’ Gunn, as well as Flex Ferguson and Kevin Seiber. Men of Honor Frodo, Stryker and Mountain Man Jeremy Stiles are set to be in competition. Also wrestling are Vito, American Standard, Robert Starr, KZ Smith and Mr. Atlanta 2.

FOOTBALL

Calling all MHS alumni

Murphy High School will host an alumni football game where the alumni Bulldogs will take on an alumni squad of Swain County Maroon Devils.

The game will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14.
