Tri-County to race Friday

Following the cancellation of their race scheduled for April 12, racing will return to Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown on Friday night.

The April 12 race was cancelled due to multiple days involving rain and cold temperatures.

At Friday night’s race, there will be an Easter egg hunt for all kids in attendance. The egg hunt will take place during the drivers meeting prior to the start of racing action. The age groups for the egg hunt are 0-2, 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12 years old.

The pits open at 3 p.m. and the grandstands open at 4 p.m. The egg hunt will start at 6:45 p.m. in the middle of the track. Hot laps will begin at 7:30 p.m.

FOOTBALL

Calling out all MHS alumni

Murphy High School will host an alumni football game, where the alumni Bulldogs will take on an alumni squad of Swain County Maroon Devils.

The game will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

Charity golf tourney set

The Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce will host their annual golf tournament, “Shoot for the Stars,” on May 2 at Butternut Creek Golf Course.

Register by Thursday, April 17, to form your four-player team.

There will be prizes for hole in one, longest drive and last place. Included is a tee gift, lunch and awards ceremony.

Still Place golf tourney

On Friday, June 6, there is a golf tournament to benefit The Still Place at Mountain Harbour Golf Club in Hayesville.

There will be four-person teams with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. It is $125 per person or $500 per team. The event is scramble format.

Highlights include lunch, prizes, special hole competitions, advance purchase of mulligans, raffle silent auction and drink ticket.
