Dogs lose to Tuscola

The Murphy Bulldogs’ boys soccer team took on Tuscola on the road and lost 4-0 on Aug. 28. Tuscola (4-2) scored two goals in each half of the match to win.

The Dogs (1-4) have wrapped up non-conference play and will kick off Smoky Mountain Conference play against Swain County on Monday at home. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. at David Gentry Field.

The Maroon Devils (1-4-1) wrapped up non-conference matches on the road Thursday with a 4-0 loss against North Buncombe.

Football for youth

Youth football is back in action in Murphy, and the first games were held Saturday.

In the Pee Wee division, Murphy defeated Jackson County 28-28. In the Termites division, Murphy shut out Jackson County 28-0.

In the Mites division, Murphy bat Jackson County 32-6. In the Midgets division, Murphy shutout Jackson County 20-0.

ANDREWS

Cats have week off

After a bye week for the Andrews varsity football team, they turn their attention to the Hayesville Yellow Jackets. The Cats host the Jackets on Friday under the lights at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats started their season with a 42-14 win on the road against Rosman on Aug. 23. That same night, Hayesville went on the road and lost 49-7 to Asheville School.

Despite Andrews and Hayesville being in the Smoky Mountain Conference, Friday’s game is a non-conference matchup.

MURPHY

JV Dogs unbeaten

The Murphy junior varsity football team is undefeated in three games this season. They have faced tough opponents in Mountain Heritage, Mitchell and Cherokee.

The defeated Cherokee (2-1) 42-8, Mountain Heritage (0-2) 16-12 and Mitchell (0-3) 38-12.

The Dogs still have undefeated opponents Swain County and Robbinsville left on their schedule. The will take on Robbinsville on Thursday, Sept. 12, and Swain on Thursday, Sept. 19.

PEACHTREE

ACWF to the action

The American Championship Wrestling Federation returns Saturday to the Peachtree Community Center at 125 Memory Lane. Doors are at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.

The American Outlaws and Men of Honor will be in action Saturday night. Other favorite ACWF superstars in action include Freak, Kilawaya, Damian, Hypnahtik, Thunder Cat, Mr. Atlanta 2, Digger James and heel Flex Ferguson.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 and kids ages 5 and under are free.
