The Andrews shooting team is hosting a fishing tournament fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hanging Dog Boat Ramp on Hiwassee Lake.
Registration is $50 per boat, and there will be a 50/50 payout. Blast off is determined by registration. There is a three-fish limit, and standard tournament rules apply. Hot dog plates will be for sale at weigh in.

2 Rosman players die
Early Sunday morning, Rosman High School juniors Layne Jones and Jayden Reynaldo were killed in an all-terrain-vehicle accident.
An N.C. Highway Patrol trooper said no other vehicles were involved, and there was no signs of intoxication. The trooper added that speed was the cause of the accident.
Transylvania County Schools released a statement Sunday, saying, “In moments like theses, words often fall short. Our hearts are broken, and we are grieving together as a community.”
Rosman hosted Andrews High School varsity football Friday night. In their last game, Reynaldo played quarterback and rushed for a touchdown. Jones had three solo tackles and six assists on defense.
MURPHY
Dogs win at home
The Murphy High School boys soccer team got their first win of the season Monday at home against Summit Charter. They won 4-0.
On Aug. 21, the Dogs (1-3) went to Pisgah and lost 8-0. The following day, they headed to Smoky Mountain and also lost 8-0.
Their next match is today on the road against Tuscola. Their next home match is Monday, Sept. 9, against Swain County for their first Smoky Mountain Conference matchup at 6 p.m.

TCEC falls versus Polk
The Tri-County Early College boys soccer team hit the road for their second match of the season against Polk County, losing 9-0.
Polk County scored four goals in the first half and five goals in the second half to win the match.
The Early College’s (0-2) next match is at home against Summit Charter on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. on David Gentry Field at Murphy High School. They will then begin SMC games.
