Shooting fundraiser a success for kids
The Know Your Limits Rifle Challenge fundraiser for the Pediatric Cancer Treatment Foundation raised $1,400 for children in need on June 23. All participants had a good time under sunny skies, while not losing sight of the reason they were there.
“Funds raised will go to programs which provide children undergoing cancer treatments with better tools to cope with their difficult journey,” said Robert Trigueros, director of the PCTF.
The winners in the top three categories were James Tipton, who won first place; Avery Hollingsworth, who took second; and Tim Fulford, who was third.

Local alum wins college volleyball Faith Award
Cailey Dockery, Murphy High School Class of 2022, was awarded the Faith Award at the University of Notre Dame volleyball banquet on April 27.
Dockery, a junior with the Fighting Irish, has excelled on and off the court. She was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2022 and 2023.
In her sophomore season last year, she appeared in 22 matches and made two starts, averaging 1.70 digs per set for a total of 129 digs. She also had seven service aces and 18 assists.
Dockery will be in action when Notre Dame kicks off their 2024 season during an exhibition match against Michigan State at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
