Smoky Mountain Conference football picks, week 4; last week 2-2, season 7-5

I have never been so pleased to be wrong on a pick as I was on Friday night in Hendersonville. The Dogs made a liar out of me, and I kind of liked it. Let’s be honest, I was ecstatic over it.
In other picks, Choctaw rarely beats the Braves, but last week was one of those rare times.
Murphy at Smoky Mountain
Smoky Mountain got boat-raced last week by T.C. Roberson. Murphy is coming off a big win and should have the services of Camden Breazeale back this week, which will bolster the Bulldogs’ defense. Smoky has already beaten Cherokee and Swain this year, but they won’t get win No. 2 against Smoky Mountain Conference competition this week. Murphy by 7.
Hayesville at Pisgah
The Yellow Jackets had problems producing offense against Andrews. The school colors are the same for their opponent this week, but the players in them will be even better than what the Jackets faced last week. Pisgah by 12.
Andrews at Mitchell
The Wildcats will face the toughest competition they have faced this year, and it won’t be a nice ride home for Andrews. Mitchell does have a good offense, so I think they will score much more than the Cats’ previous two opponents. Mitchell by 21.
Tuscola at Swain
Swain is having to start their backup quarterback, and they just got a dose of Franklin last week. It won’t be as bad as the Maroon Devils experienced last week, but the end result will not be much better. Tuscola by 12.
Copper Basin at Robbinsville
The Black Knights are in a position they don’t find themselves very often – 0-3. Look for Robbinsville to take out their frustrations on the Cougars on the way to their first win. Black Knights by 21.
