Murphy – The Murphy Bulldogs improved to 4-1 on the season Friday night, downing the Life Christian Academy Hawks 45-28 at home.

The Bulldogs got the scoring started early, with quarterback Kellen Rumfelt finding receiver Payton McCracken streaking down the field for a long 71-yard score.

Life Christian would respond with a touchdown of their own, sending the teams into the second quarter tied 6-6.

Murphy drove down the field to open the second, finding their way into the end zone on a short scoring jaunt by running back Ray Rathburn. Devonte Murray would then punch in the two-point conversion for the temporary 14-6 lead for the Bulldogs.

However, the Hawks once again responded, re-tying the game at 14-14 with a touchdown and conversion of their own.

The two teams would once again swap scoring drives, with Rumfelt scoring on a quarterback sneak to put the Bulldogs up and Life Christian immediately tying the game back up.

Murphy would retake the lead with just over two minutes remaining before the half, as Rumfelt and McCracken connected once again for a score.

The Bulldogs came out of the half leading 27-20 and didn't look back, continuing to pile on the points.

Rumfelt and McCracken would connected for their third touchdown of the game on the Dog's opening drive of the second half and after Dallas Rayburn partially blocked a Life Christian punt, Rathburn would find his way into the end zone for a second time, scoring on a long 56-yard run.

Murray would later punch in a short touchdown run to give Murphy the 45-28 lead which they would hold through the end of the game.
