Andrews, Hiwassee Dam, Murphy and Tri-County Early College traveled to Polk County to compete in the 1A West Regional track & field meet Friday.
Each teams posted good results and had at least one athlete qualify for the state meet.
Andrews
Logan Shuler jumped 6-foot-4 in high jump to earn first place in 1A West, securing his spot at the state meet. He was the only Wildcat to get first place in their event.
William Wood came in second in discus and Myca Mustin came in third in triple jump. Kegan Ellis came in ninth in long jump and Logan Patrick came in 13th in discus.
In boy’s track events, Isaac Patrick came in sixth in the 100-meter dash and Chase Beasley came in seventh in the 110m hurdles.
The boys relay teams came in seventh in the 4x200m, 12th in the 4x400m and 13th in the 4x100m.
In the girls track events, Kaiya Ellis came in fifth in the 100m hurdles, Kimber Vaught came in fifth in the 400m dash, while Kylie Donaldson came in fifth in the 100m dash. Khloe Mayfield came in 13th in the 800m run.
In the girls field events, Kylie Donaldson came in fourth in long jump and Alexis Beasley came in fifth in shot put. Kaiya Ellis came in seventh in triple jump and Donaldson came in eighth. Demi Davis came in eighth in shot put. Vaught came in ninth in high jump and Kaiya Ellis came in 11th. In discus, Jaden Crocker came in seventh and Davis came in 10th.
The girl’s 4x100m relay came in third. They came in eighth in both the 4x400m and 4x800m. They also came in 10th in the 4x200m.
Wood, Donaldson, Mustin, Shuler and the girls 4x100m relay qualified for the state meet with their performance at regionals.
Hiwassee Dam
Four Eagles qualified and competed at the regional meet. Ethan Russell had the highest finish as he came in second place in the 1,600m run. Oscar Page came in fifth in the 1,600m.
Russell also came in fourth in the 3,200m and Page came in fifth. Jonah Dockery came in eighth in the high jump.
Avery Freemon was the lone Lady Eagle to compete in the regional meet and she came in 16th in the 1,600m run. Russell qualified for the state meet with his performance in both the 1,600m and 3,200m.
Murphy
Cale Harger earned the highest finish for the Murphy boys track & field athletes with his fourth-place finish in long jump. Aaron Harger finished in sixth place in discus and ninth in shot put. Camden Breazeale came in fifth in the 11m hurdles and seventh in the 300m hurdles.
The boys relay 4x100m relay team came in 12th.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Ansley Roper earned the highest finished as she came in third in discus.
Amelia Joyner also came in ninth in discus and 11th in shot put.
For the track events, Sadie Cornwell came in eighth in the 100m hurdles. Corrine Cotton came in 11th in the 400m and 14th in the 200m dash. Kennedy White came in 11th in the 800m.
The Lady Dogs’ relay teams came in seventh in the 4x200m and ninth in the 4x100m.
Roper and Harger qualified for the state meet with their performances.
Tri-County Early College
Fern Crayton and Williams Boyd were the only individual athletes from Tri-County to qualify for the regional meet. Crayton came in fourth in the 3,200m run. Boyd came in 13th in the 400m run.
Their relay teams also qualified for regionals. The girls 4x800 came in ninth and the girls 4x400m came in 12th. The boys 4x800m came in sixth, the 4x200m came in ninth and the 4x400m came in 11th.
Crayton qualified for the state meet with her running performance.

Each team had at least one athlete qualify for the state meet, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greensboro.
