Smoky Mountain Conference boys golf was back in action as Cherokee County’s varsity teams took on three different courses.
Murphy and Tri-County Early College, as well as Nantahala were in action on March 24 at Mountain Harbour Golf Club in Hayesville.
Then Andrews was in action on March 25 at Smoky Mountain Country Club in Whittier and on Thursday at Chatuge Shores Golf Club in Hayesville.
Mountain Harbour
Murphy, Tri-County Early College and Nantahala took on the par 36 front nine of Mountain Harbour Golf Club in Hayesville on March 24.
Murphy came in second place overall as a team after shooting 203. Nantahala came in third after shooting 206.
Easton Manuel of Murphy finished tied for first place after a round of 47.
Brady Grant of Murphy earned a top 10 finish after shooting 50 to finish tied for fifth place.
Also in action for Murphy was Abram Twiggs and Elijah Kerley, who finished tied for 12th after both shooting 53. Brody Orton finished tied for 19th after a round of 55.
For Nantahala, the Hawks were led by Cole McCoy and Rory Blackwell with rounds of 50 to finish tied for fifth place.
Fernando Trejo finished tied for 10th after shooting 52.
Kayleb Worley shot 54 to finish tied for 17th and Landon Neal shot 57 to finish tied for 22nd.
Tri-County’s lone golfer Hayden Blanton shot 63 to finish in 27th.
Cherokee won the event after shooting 197 as a team.
Highlands came in fourth with 213 and Hayesville came in fifth after shooting 215.
Smoky Mountain CC
Andrews was in action for the first time during the week as they played Smoky Mountain Country Club in Whittier.
The Wildcats secured their second win in their third event as the team shot below 200.
The Cats finished in second place after shooting 190 as a team.
Brady Queen, Logan Shuler and Tucker Stalcup all shot 45 to finish tied for third place.
Jayce Donaldson shot 55 to finish in 10th.
Robbinsville got the win after shooting 186 as a team.
Swain County also competed at the match and shot 210 as a team, but Dean Henderson shot 39 to win the event as an individual.
Chatuge Shores
The Wildcats were back in action Thursday as they took on Chatuge Shores Golf Club in Hayesville.
The Wildcats got the win as they shot 196 as a team.
They were led by Queen, who shot 44 to finish tied for first place.
Stalcup shot 45 to finish tied for third.
Braylen Maennle had a round of 52 to finish in solo seventh, while Donaldson shot 55 to finish in a tie for ninth place.
