Andrews wraps up the regular season
Andrews – The Lady Wildcats’ varsity volleyball team wrapped up their regular season at home by hosting Hayesville and celebrating senior night.
Before the match on Oct. 7, Andrews honored volleyball seniors Mady Queen, Kaiya Ellis, Alexis Beasley, Chanteah Ratter and Molly Conti. Alas, the Lady Cats (10-12) fell to the Lady Yellow Jackets (24-3).
Andrews started the game by winning the first set 25-20. Hayesville then tied it in a close, hard-fought set the Lady Jackets won 25-23.
Hayesville took a 2-1 lead in the match by winning the third set 25-15. They closed out the match by winning the fourth set 25-13 to win the game 3-1.
Senior Chanteah Rattler led the team in aces with two. Drea Cutshaw, Mady Queen and Juliet Holloway also had one ace.
Holloway led the team in kills with 22. Holloway also led the team in block assists with five. Senior Kaiya Ellis led the team in assists with 17. Ellis also led test team in digs with 16.
Senior Alexis Beasley had two kills, one block and one dig. Senior Molly Conti had two digs and one block assist.
The Lady Wildcats were the No. 5 seed heading into the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament. On Monday, they faced No. 4 seed Robbinsville.
Andrews fell in their first round matchup 3-0.
Each set was close as both teams battled to advance.
Robbinsville won the first two sets with a 25-23 score. They then won the third set 25-21 to win the match.
