Andrews – After picking up their first two wins of the season two weeks ago, the Andrews Lady Wildcats showed their potential in losses to the Hayesville Lady Jackets and Murphy Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Cats traveled to Hayesville on Sept. 17 and despite falling in straight sets, put pressure on the Lady Jackets. Andrews fell 25-12 in the first set and 25-14 in the second set before threatening Hayesville in the third at 25-21.
Andrews returned home on Thursday to host the Lady Bulldogs and gave Murphy a tough fight.
The Lady Cats came out swinging to open the first set, nearly snagging it away from the Lady Dogs, but ultimately fell 25-22.
Andrews slipped a little in the second set, with Murphy defeating them 25-11, but once again rallied in the third only to narrowly fall 25-20.
Despite the two losses, Andrews head coach Shanna Mustin saw plenty of potential in her roster.
“We try not to focus too much on our opponents at this point,” Mustin said after the loss to Murphy. “But we did know obviously coming in that Murphy would be a tough game. We played hard, we hustled and we did our best I think.”
