Hiwassee Dam – The Lady Eagles wrapped up their final week of the regular season with a win and a loss to Blue Ridge Early College and Swain County, respectively.
In their final non-conference matchup, they hosted Swain County (16-5) on Oct. 7, losing 3-0. Swain got out to an early lead and won the first set 25-15. They maintained that momentum, winning the second and third sets 25-19 to take the match 3-0.
Later in the week, Hiwassee Dam (8-12) headed to Cashiers for their final regular season away game against Blue Ridge Early College (4-10).
The Lady Eagles won the first set 25-19 and didn’t look back. They took the second set 25-16. They won the third set 25-17 to secure their third Little Smoky Mountain Conference win.
They wrapped up the regular season on Monday with a 3-0 win over Blue Ridge Early College.
Hiwassee Dam also celebrated Senior Night, honoring the Lady Eagles’ seniors – Olivia McNabb, Addi Stiles, Ally Ledford and Bella Stiles, as well as senior cross-country runners Ethan Russell, Maria Page and Luke Harbin.
The match started with an ace from Brinkley Payne, then the Lady Eagles maintained the lead. Good serves helped them set up points en route to winning the first set 25-19.
The Lady Eagles kept it up in the second and third sets, winning them 25-16 and 25-17, respectively.
Today, Little Smoky Mountain Conference teams Hiwassee Dam, Highlands and Blue Ridge Early College head to Cashiers for the conference tournament. The Lady Eagles secured the top spot with their win on Monday.
